Disturbed's Tree Resource

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:21 pm

I mod for Morrowind and ran across this great resource. I've tried contacting Disturbed about permission to downgrade it for use in Morrowind. I don't know if he (you) lurk in these forums or not. The file doesn't come with a readme, so I have little to go on.

If someone can give me information on whether or not this would be permissible, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
-Melchior Dahrk :)

I could probably find out with you, seeing as Disturbed made the trees for MERP, and he hasn't been active there in a long while, but Jnor may be able to give you an answer.

Where did you find this resource Melchior? I know quite a few modding teams (myself included) who have been working on forests, and would find a tree resource really useful. I couldn't find it on the nexus, so if you were to post a link that would be most pleasant :)

Hm, can't find the resource either! I assume those are trees that haven't been made with speedtree?

Huh, why can't people find this on Nexus? Searching on the words "tree resource" gave me two links: one to Seigfrieds mod and the other to Disturbed's resource: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25826 :)

I actually did search Planet Elderscrolls, but with Yacoby's site. Guess there must be something wrong with it, it doesn't list the Tree Resource Pack.

Lol, looks like I must be stupid then :P

Ah, I've seen this resource before, I just didn't recognise the author name. Most of them are speedtree files, (a couple aren't) but back on topic: is it possible to get speedtree files into morrowind now?! Sweet!

That would be great, I don't really know anyone in the OB modding scene... if you could contact someone or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!

Not possible that I know of :). I'm interested in the nifs which come with the resource.

Hi Melchior,

In Disturbed's "Tree Resource Pack", the following tree nifs were made by me:

Palm tree x 4
Hala Tree x 2

They are 100% custom meshes, nothing borrowed from Oblivion or anything like that. Therefore they can be used in Morrowind, legitimately.

You have my permission to downgrade those particular nifs and use them in Morrowind. Just make sure that whatever mod they may be used in, that "Koniption" is credited in a readme somewhere, included with such mods.

Thank you very much Koniption! You will definitely be credited (for this mod I am keeping a running Credits txt file so I don't forget anyone ;)). Actually those are some of the most important meshes I wanted to use.

Do you by any chance know who created the misc plant nifs which also came with the resource, such as the Bird of Paradise? Should I try contacting Jnor, who AliTheLord mentioned?

The Bird of Paradise was most likely also made by me. I included a bunch of plants in my personal resource pack, that Disturbed pulled from to include in his version of a resource pack.

Here's my resource pack:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18961

You can download it, and see what plant models you want to use.

I have not downloaded Disturbed's resource pack version, so I don't really know what all of mine he has in there. You can cross-reference things on your own, though.

Awesome! Looks like you made all the plants I was considering. Do you mind if I use some of the other non-flora meshes in your resource?
