[RELZ] Companion Vilja - release thread 2

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:56 am

You know, I actually did it!

After the encouragement I got here, I have now recorded 17 unique attack-voices and 4 unique hit-voices.

So, next version of Vilja will be screaming with my voice... and you will all know what horrible sounds my family has to endure when I'm mad because they haven't been behaving!

Torrello, thank you for these words - it's very sweet of you :)
But, you misunderstood my previous post a little :), or didn't see the full context (probably because I didn't express myself correctly). No-one asked me to rephrase Vilja's dialog:
I was, according to a friend, saying in the post above that Vilja would chat *twice as often* in the next version  And that, I believe, would be a little too much to cope with for most people :D.
So I simply rephrased myself, telling that she wouldn't talk twice as often, but instead have twice as many things to talk about.

Ooops sorry  misunderstood. Twice as much chatting and comments might be abit too much, she's already very chatty. Any very cheeky, telling me I stomp around when I'm sneaking - her sneak is only 6 FFS!

Also, it's very clever how she knows I need to go to Kvatch, or Fort blueblood for that amulet. I've never know a companion to be so involved in my story

Oh, there will be a lot more of this in next version... I think you will have quite a surprise ;)

Kir suggested earlier in this thread that I should try and make her comment on things as they happened, and also let the player's actions affect her disposition. This is now in the mod.

She told me my beautiful evening gown wasn't becoming at all  (she probably wanted it herself)

I noticed from the screenshots on nexus several people have altered Vilja's hair. I was wondering if anyone knew if it was fairly straight forward to do this with Tes4Edit?
I have many different hairs installed (using RBP) but cos my games Sooooooooooooooo modded I can't open the CS anymore (probably something to do with having vanilla textures and meshes on a different drive and renamed).
In fact, she just asked my if she should go red haired...

Actually, changing hair with TES4Edit is pretty straight forward, but editing her face in TESCS is probably more fun. I do not know what you mean by the different location thing. TESCS has an INI in the same folder as the Oblivion.ini. You can register your BSAs in its archive list, if that is what you are worried about...

Although it isn't hard to change Vilja's hair in the Construction set, I believe that in most cases, those posting the screenies at Nexus have choosen an even easier approach: they have visited the Apachii Goddess Store and bought a bunch of various wigs for Vilja. There exists several various wig mods, so if you don't want the huge Apachii store, there are several others to choose among as well.

I mean the CS won't plain open. Please, don't patronise me. Especially about ini registration, I've posted numerous time how I have many many BSA's on a different drive from mods and modified vanilla archives. When I first installed, the CS opened just fine, when I changed the SArchiveList to point to T1.bsa and T2.bsa in my F:\ drive, it doesn't
Anyhow, her face is perfect (thanks emma), was just wondering about the hair thang

Oh, yeah, good thinking. I have that mod :bolt:

I am not patronizing you. Many users are not aware of the TESCS' separate INI file. If that is your only problem, you can just move the BSAs that you need into the Data folder temporarily. However, if you just want to change an NPCs hair, look for the record in TES4Edit and directly change the hair. Do you not know how to use TES4Edit or something?

Ah, I think I owe you an appology. Obviously you were talking about the CS ini, which I checked, then double checked and then upon tripple checking I found I had a full stop instead of a comma! :shocking: So I can now open the CS again :D
Sorry

Anyhow, had a few mins before bed with Vilja in the CS and found there's an alternative Vilja class as a ranger, so I'm gonna change her to that as it will suit my game/playstyle better :D thanks Em x. Changing her hair to one from RBP will be a little more involved. It will mean hacking her race to include the RBP hairs. I'm sure it's very easy, but me and that CS don't get on well. I have trouble doing stuff and gant even add stuff to a merchant without messing up a store and making stuff go havok crazy and fly around the room.

Anyhow, on a different note: Vilja mentioned a couple of time how she doesn't like heavy armour (make her feel fat apparantly). I just recently replaced all her armour with elven I got from a dead Boss. Now it's ALL light, but since then she keeps asking if I think she looks fat! Chicks huh!

Vilja loads after RBP, right? In that case, you can simply use Wrye Bash to esmify RBP, and then add the hair from RBP that you want to your Vilja character. Remember to use the espify function to revert RBP or bad things will happen. Also, turn on lock times beforehand so that saving the Vilja ESP in TESCS does not change the timestamp (and mess up your load order.)

Why do in the CS what you can do in dialog ingame? :)

Just use the fighting instruction topic and tell her to use ranged, that will switch her class.

Note that you will have to give her arrows - originally I had added arrows to her in the CS, but it turns out that when a companion has arrows added in the CS, they will use these kind of arrows all the time, regardless what you give them, and regardless what they have in their inventory later.

Yep, chicks  You will probably never find a way to make her 100 % happy with her outfits :D

Changing her hair to one from RBP

Out of curiosity, what is RBP?

no unfortunatley not. Looking on BOSS masterlist bgBalancing core is no 11980 and 1emVilja is 11761. RBP really has to load pretty late

Well I thought thats what happened but when I checked her stats her sneak and marksman showed as about 6.

It shows OK in my game...
However... one drawback with the switching. If you reload the game, she will be back to her original class, i.e. the one assigned to her in the CS. So, if you switched her to marksman and then reloaded, you will have to tell her to be marksman once again..

RBP! come on!

Sorry... I've always been crap at abbreviations
I know what the Race Balancing project is, though! :)

In that case, esmify Vilja too and create a patch that depends on both. Remember to use espify to set Vilja's plugin right again. You should then add the tag {{BASH:NpcFaces,Deactivate}} to the description in Wrye Bash (and save.) Add it to the masterlist.txt file after RBP or somewhere late in your load order after RBP.

Edit: If the import face tag does not work...for some reason...not tagging it at all is fine because the plugin will be mergeable. You may need to edit with TES4Edit to remove the DIAL branch that TESCS may add. (I am pretty sure it will, so you should clean the plugin with TES4Edit afterward to ensure it is mergeable.)

Just a couple of things I thought I should post:
1. When Vilja is unconscious (essential version), she constantly heals herself and talks like nothing has happened. I've looked through readme again and found nothing on this matter. Any advice anyone? Page seven has answered this one :)
2. How about turning her pvssyr off when in dangerous environment, like dungeons, ruins etc? It's just looks funny as she starts to talk right in the middle of me trying to be stealthy and not killed by a group of spectral warriors :D If this was already discussed, feel free to ignore my post.

Thanks.

You may want to post in the new http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1096090-wipz-companion-vilja-ver-2-very-soon-to-be-released/page__st__80 as Emma wanted to know if there were any issues with the first version.
