I would like to see a little more color in the writing this time around, by that I mean depth, emotional draw on the character, easter eggs. Be it a DLC or on 11.11.11 I think it needs a boost in this department. I want more tragedy, temptation, virtue, and creativity involved. Games need to get to a point where they rival Shakespeare, and books like moby dike, paradise lost, a brave new world, 1984, and so on.
Fable had a sentient treasure chest that was insane, that was pretty good. We have something similar with umbra but only in the stories. I want to see a town being controlled through suggestion by it's mayor(person of authority). Have signs all around town with the NPC's quoting what they say. "Avon is a wonderful leader.," "taxation is bad.", "I want you, to join the city guard." Have it come back and hit him when an outsider comes in and realizes that he isn't giving his people freedom of choice and not even letting them know about it.
Oblivion had a reference to romeo and Juliet but you didn't act on it! no player quest at all.
With the moby dike thing, just have a character torn apart by his anger, he must chase down his "white whale" for revenge and it eventually destroys him.
Fallout 3 did the paradise lost bit vaguely with the museum of natural history but I would like to see a town with a parliament (what the book was written for) cause a guy to write a book that demonizes them.
Just soo much more could be said. What about you guys what would you like to see in the writing?
