has ID Killed Elder Scrolls

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 11:10 am

I am just wondering beaus Oblivion has been out for about 5 years now and I would thin that anew elderscolls would have been anounced by now. But scince Id too over the devlopers I have seen no sign of ES:V anywhere. Have Id decided that ES is not there style or somthing and decided to can it or somthing ?

You've got it wrong.

ID were the ones taken over by Bethesda Game Studios parent company, Bethesda Softworks.

Bethesda are working on at least one current big project and logic dictates that it's not a Fallout game since we've just had two in quick succession. Speculation in that case is that the big project is ESV.

ID were bought by ZeniMax Studios which also owns Bethesda Game Studios (the development company) and Bethesda Softworks (the publishing company). :P

It is quite interesting isn't it? Pretty soon all of our favorite developers will be under the ZeniMax umbrella  :woot:

This is true, so I'd say ID has no authority regarding whether or not a new Elder Scrolls game will be developed, and if such a game is being developed or is to be developed, it will be Bethesda Game Studios, not ID that works on it. In short, I wouldn't worry about the Elder Scrolls series simply because ID is now owned by the same company that owns Bethesda.

This alone does not guarentee that we will see another Elder Scrolls game, of course, though I do believe we will, eventually, the only real guarentee we can have would be Bethesda actually announcing it, but it does mean that ID would not be the company to decide whether such a game is made or not.

ZeniMax is just power hungry for game companies these days.

I'd say they're just trying to compete with other big companies, like EA, I mean, just look at how many games have their logo on them.

Yes, I think the folk at ZeniMax are very interesting people.

They have chosen to gather just a few game making companies under their protection, at the right time, and help them with their work, but the choices are really brilliant ones:

The makers of some of the best RPGs that we know, and the founders of the FPS genre.

That's would make nice collection.

Does anybody know if Maxis is available for acquisition?

Maxis is chained up in the dungeons of Electronic Arts, forced to produce sequels to The Sims for all of eternity.

/agree

With all the companies they've bought appearing to be more than politely pleased by the transaction, it doesn't resonate as a power grab. It seems to me that they're looking for opportunities to make money while fostering the development of good games. Win all around!

the problem is that now, with Bioware left as the only real RPG competion (Ubisoft is probably going to be bought one day or another, if it hasn't already) there will be less competion, and there for evolution, of the game industry.

Moderators of all these Bethesda forums confirmed us that there is no information on The Elder Scrolls V yet.
Only speculations and lies throughout the internet.
