Mod error making my game crash :(

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:03 am

Hello fellow tes lovers

i have spent well over 200 hours on this game on the 360 and decided to nab the game of the year deluxe edition off steam as it was going cheap

now here is my problem

i have been trying to play a mod i downloaded, you may be familiar with it, the fransesco's overhaul thing?

now during the setup it says i do not have shivering isles (which i do it IS a goty edition with all expansions)

so to be safe i click the 'do not install SI sections' option

it all looks like its installed well BUT

after i have clicked play game, loaded my (level 1) charachter, i walk outside of the imperial city market district to go and fight some things...

TES: OBLIVION had stopped working so windows has closed it, do you wish to send an error report?

Can anyone help me? i really want to play this mod :(

Did you confirm the game works properly with no mods installed? Could be a windows or driver issue.

Do you have DLCShiveringIsles.esp in your load order and active?

I don't know why but the last time I had installed Fran's I had just gotten a new GOTY edition cd set (wore out my old ones). It didn't pick up on me having Shivering Isles either but I clicked yes when that popup came up about it. Didn't have any problems with it either. Also I believe it takes 2 or 3 in game days for the message about the island to come up. Try to uninstall and then reinstall and go ahead and pick the SI options should be fine. Good luck!

Do you use OBMM or Wrye Bash to install, or just the Frans installer?

Steam version has some files that will be newer than the Frans files. Changing the dates on them to be older than the Frans stuff might help.

OBMM can do that, or you can google a file date changer. All the original BSA files should be dated in January 2006, if I recall correctly.

Utilities, Archive Invalidation, make sure BSA Redirection is chosen and hit the Reset BSA Timestamps button.

Not a lot of information to go on.

Since Frans took so long to download, I'd assume you have both installers and that both installed correctly. Presumably, Frans is also correctly added to the sarchivelist in the Oblivion.ini.

The content of the error report from Windows might help.

You could try disabling individual Frans files and see if it's a particular one causing the problem. Reinstall Frans and choose the "separate files" option to see if that makes a difference.

Run BOSS to make sure the load order is correct.

The order in which the game loads the files. Which ones have priority over the others.

In OBMM, the Import/Export menu, "view Load order" will show the order in which the game is loading them. Pasting that here might help.

Run BOSS, or consult the BOSS masterlist.
