I personally don't care about spears being in the game. I think they are primitive and it would be like taking the game 200 years back in time instead of forward. why do you guys want spears?

It's hardly primitive, spears are situational weapons though and wouldn't be much use to the average Skyrim combatant, not with the way the game seems to be designed.

You reason makes absolutely no sense, but I don't see why it's such a huge deal either.

I have no idea. It doesn't bother me, but then I'm adamant that there should be a hardcoe/survival mode, which many people think is tedious and annoying - so each to their own.

Because a good game with spears are hard to find, so they are cashing in on Skyrim having one.

Spears are one of those things I would not mind if we had or not. So i am not really fussed personally. Most of the topics about spears has mainly been a bit of a joke on the posters part

How the hell are spears primitive, they are basically the pure manifestation of the most effective weapon. It's a long stick with a sharp point and you stab people from afar.

Personally I don't care that much, I never used them in Morrowind. But I would like to see throwing spears/javelins. I don't see why they don't include polearm weapons (scottish halberds anyone?) and the corresponding perks, I guess it's just a work management thing.

This should get closed asap. I am seeing too much "spears this, spears that" and idk why people are going nuts on the spears being included or not. If they are included, cool I may use it idk, but if it isn't then okay, then I won't be able too. I guess it is better than seeing "Morrowind vs Oblivion" threads xD

In the end, some people want them, some people don't care.

The people who don't care end up getting sick of the people who do care who complain how they've been left out again.

Posts that say 'Why do people care about spears?' ultimately exacerbate the problem since then people who want spears turn up and say why they should be in the game. Then the people who [don't care/don't want] spears show up and complain that the people who are complaining about not having the spears in the game complain too much.

I used spears quite often in Morrowind, for me it helps define the character im playing.

Some people like spears, some like axes or bows (or crossbows for that matter), others like swords. :shrug:
It all comes down to personal preference and the addition of extra choices for your character .

I want spears to appear in TES VI.

Spears (and clubs) are first weapons of humans. Spears served for a very long time. They, not swords, were main weapon of warfare through parts of both Middle Ages and Renaissance. Obviously they were important in Ancient world. Version of spear is a traditional weapon of medieval tanks.

Spears are lot of good things. But there won't be any spears in Skyrim, unfortunately. Get over it, wait for TES VI while playing V with swords.

It is not just SPEARS, its just POLE-ARMS in general.

I want pole-arms because I LIKE pole-arms, just like you like swords or axes or maces. I want to be able to play how I want.

Like imagine a big Halberd (http://www.wle.com/media/W324-T.jpg), or a double bladed sword (http://www.trueswords.com/images/prod/c/TS-CRUSADER_540.jpg). They are all used in a pole-arm style, two hands around the mid section (being careful not to hit yourself with either end).

Good question :shrug: . My guess is that people just want more variety, that's all. Especially the variety that was already in past games but got hacked in Oblivion.

It is rather trivial. I can think of other things that would warrant more complaining that don't get it. Maybe they can borrow some complain from the spear sayers?

Because a long mid-range weapon adds a new style of combat. Swords, maces and axes are all the same to me. Club club smack slash. Boring.
