Best TES Moment

He kind of relied on traitors and magic to conquer northern Cyrodiil alone. He didn't know he'd have their support. When you remember that, he was actually not that smart - he marched up to a well-defended fortress in the middle of winter without much in the way of supplies or professional soldiers, right into what would have been a Nordic trap if a Breton battlemage hadn't showed him Sancre Tor's weaknesses.

For the rest of his campaigns, especially the most important, he relied on Numidium, which he wouldn't have gotten without he and Vivec recognising the futility of further campaigns in Morrowind.

well, Caesar relied almost totally on dumb luck in the real world, so dumb luck and a stompyrobot together makes for pretty good chances.

Well I had some...

The arrival at cloud ruler temple gave me not a Wow-how-amazing feeling but it was so peacefully, therefore it is and stay my favorite place in all Tamriel....

Also the end sceen of Oblivion, the battle between Mehrunes Dagon and the avatar of Akatosh...

And the moment in KotN when Umaril comes down from the stairs, quite creepy...

I really don't like the fact that i haven't completed theMQ of Morrowind, the biggest reason because i don't like the travelling in the Ashlands...

The only Morrowind moment wich made me go like wow... was when Hircine stood before me wappering with his mighty spear...

All though it is never actually shown in any of the game I believe this is my favorite moment in TES Lore:

"The armies of Oblivion destroy Ald’ruhn, ancestral home of House Redoran, even though ancient rituals were used to awaken the dread emperor crab and the whole city literally rose up to fight the invaders. With their warrior House decimated, the dunmer of Vvardenfell fall back as daedra move towards a siege of Ghost Gate. Prayers to Vivec and the Nerevarine go unanswered."

To me, that just shows how epic the events of Oblivion really were. It seems like it should be in a Tolkien novel or something. I can just imagine the last remnants of House Redoran making their final stand against the Ghost Gate, piles of dead daedra around them.

If I recall correctly, that was added lore that MK posted on these very boards.

Alongside, he provided some swanky art, that someone in the community later colored. I have a copy of it somewhere, used to be my background at one point.

Another thing that touched me (I actually felt bad in real life) was finding Slyth Serengi's Body During the Sunken One Quest in OB  . Knowing that he died thinking he was to save tamerial was touching

My solution to that once was boots of blinding speed plus my special made resist magic pants! Another time I just upped my acrobatics to 300 or so -the most fun way to travel ever.

But to the topic of the thread, my favorite TES lore moment (as this is a lore thread, not an ES general thread, the moments should be about lore and not game moments) is an uncertain event. When Kagrenak (sp?) did something funky to that heart and poof! There goes all of his race!

Either that or the event that makes all others possible, When Lorkhan tricked or convinced the Aedra to make the world, and then when they killed him...

Among my favourite TES lore moment is the Ansei destroying Yokuda, although alas, it never appeared in-game. It must've been an awesome, terrifying, and mind-blowing sight to behold.

Another in general would have to be Tiber Septim - he's on par with Big Boss for videogame awesomeness, although again he seldom appears in the games (I can only remember Wulf). I think better yet is considering the fact that he's considered one of the Nine Divines, which is somewhat ironic, don't you think?

Not really ironic, so much as dang cool. As I understand it he somewhat mantelled Shezzar (is that right?) and so just basically decided, hey, I'm going to be super amazing now.

I think for me it's the whole event at Red Mountain, particularly the climactic dialogue and fight with Dagoth Ur. Likely because I'd never dared travel anywhere near the Ghost Gate beforehand and Bethesda built the showdown up so well.

I remember losing Sumner during the fight (though I'm still not altogether certain how) and leaving Red Mountain shaking.

My first trips to red mountain were also mostly main quest related.

I remember my VERY first trip EVER to red mountain was for the quest where you have to escort that [censored]y little pilgrim to the shrine there, all for like.. 50 gold or something stupid.

I escorted her in, she paid me (not nearly enough mind you), and I killed her and took the rest of her stuff as payment.

First "evil" thing (beyond common theft) my character did. It was literally a moment of blind rage.

On my way down the mountain I was chased by an ascended sleeper, who I barely escaped.

Then on my trip back in for the last bits of the main quest I remember levitating over some of the mountains looking for one of the ruins that I needed to visit to get keening or sunder, and being attacked by a lich from one of the mods I had installed.

Now granted, since it's modded you could argue it had no bearing on actual TES lore, but hear me out.

I panicked, the lich was way too powerful and was utterly destroying me. So I levitated away and tried to get out of range as best I could.

Thinking I was safe, I paused to recover some fatigue, drink some potions, recover mana, etc.

I looked up just then to see the lich had cast his own levitation spell and was CHASING ME!

I didn't even know the Morrowind AI was smart enough to do that, I nearly crapped my pants, lol.

I think the lich ended up killing me. :P

One of the memorable moments at Red Mountain was when you find a working Imperial mine. I was amazed that the Empire could mine in an area that dangerous. Even though there were guards, maybe they didn't realize how much of a threat the Sixth House was.

This is an odd one, but I loved the Redguard introductory movie. To see the ES universe from Daggerfall finally come to life in such a visual and cinematic way was a real show stopper for me. I had just finished reading the PGE during the installation of Redguard, so with the combination of those two experiences it was like watching the ES world come to life before my eyes.

Plus that was the first time we got to see a physical depiction of Tiber Septim, right? Just that brief appearance was enough to get a long-term ES fan all giddy.

I think for me it is when Caias must leave. All of a sudden you are on your own. You have a decent idea of what to do next, but that's about it.

Doing the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Morgiah%27s_Wedding (which was pretty much my first DF quest) and meeting King of Worms for the first time. It gave me a very strong sense of "whoa, this game got depth", that I never really had experienced before in a game, at least not as strongly. And starting the dungeon by going into a coffin was cool too :P

Same here. The first time I was soo lost in there, low level and easy prey for ANYthing in there. I memorized the path to him so well I could go there in my sleep any time.

The plague island level of Battlespire had an impact on me. Old Man Chimere's ramblings, and the actual tale that I eventually got out of him, the undying hunter (me the hunted), and the abandoned buildings with "plague" written on the doors...
