A necessary evil

Im talking about Uderfryktes of course! If you recall one was terrorising the mead hall of Solstheim. And there was one at Dive Rock. They love cold/rocky areas. They need to be in Skyrim!

OMG! I was just doing that undocumented quest in Oblivion, and I was thinking that it'd be cool if they made a return in Skyrim. They could be like the Bogey-men of the region.

Is there any doubt about this? They are native to Skyrim after all. So they'll be there.

Wasn't the Udyrfrykte, and entire quest that follows it basically an Easter Egg? Based of the epic poem Beowulf?

Yes. The Udyrfrykte was Grendel, and the Udyrfrykte Matron was Grendel's Mother.

Only thing we need to complete the entire "Beowulf Easter Egg Cycle" is a dragon. Hmmmmm....

Falmer are the bogey-men of Skyrim, although I'm all for including perhaps a singular, isolated clan of Uderfryke beasts scattered across the mountains. Remember, these are mighty and mythic beasts of unparalled danger. They have to be truly unique in order to have an impact.

I don't see an appearance by the Uderfrykte, after all, like stated earlier it was a Beowulf reference. Since there's been Grendel and Grendel's mommy, there's nothing after that. Of course, Bethesda could simply throw one or two in for the heckuvit

How about a Beowulf cameo?
I think that's missing.
And I can definitely picture it: fighting off a mudcrab, screaming "I! AM! BEOWULF!" or whatever name they give him

Would be nice if I am the necessary evil, not in the Beowulf sense.

Damn, it was a great Solstheim quest, a slightly Lol moment in Oblivion.
However thinking 'bout it, is it not just flogging a dead Udyrfrykte.
I mean now we're actually in Skyrim the whole Grendal thing's been done twice, not that original an idea by now.
Maybe we can go back in time and wipe the Udyrfrykte from the game before Solstheim was released.
