An Underground City

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:09 am

Think about it: Bruma takes after Skyrim architecture, by building houses close to the ground to conserve heat, so what about a completely underground city in Skyrim? What better way to keep warm than actually having your city underground or in some sort of mountain

your thoughts?

Well I think there WERE dwarves in skyrim. Problem is TES dwarves aren't small, nor build undergroud cities.

you know how mountains were a pain...to get over or around...well i have discussed about unique cavern passages that run through mountains and this would be a good way to use that idea

Remember, its an entirely new engine. Mountains will probably be completely different.

Not small, but I would say their cities do qualify as underground, at least partially. For most of them, the lower areas were collapsed or inaccessible and you could only explore the upper levels.

Totally underground doesn't seem like the Nordic style IMO, though maybe a mountain/cave settlement is possible.

Elder Scrolls games are known to have buildings underground. I would be surprised if there was.

Actually yhe Dwemer civilization was located underground in the mountains bordering Skyrim and Morrowind so there is likely going to be abandoned Dwemer cities in Skyrim.

I'm taking about a living, breathing underground city. Or inside a mountain. not an abandoned city

It's not like in the movies, underground cities would be still be very dark even with more torches than there are bricks.

Pretty much like in the DLC "Mehrunes Razor" from Oblivion.
That would be cool. A pain the [censored] to travel though.

Dwemer had electrical technology, what would be so dark if the went akk Vegas about it? Anyways...dwarves are interior livers, but they do leave their cities alot. The Idea of an underground city does not fit dwarves well. I can see it happening though.

Maybe from whatever crisis is in Skyrim a city like this is formed in the mountain as a last resort bunker or by a group of desperate refugees as a secure home. Like an Elder Scrolls vault...

I like it. Although, back in these times, they used to have their dogs in the basemant, so their heat would warm the people.
