Finally, The PC system requirements for the Witcher 2!

I'm hoping it runs well on my laptop at 1920x1080.

I pre-ordered on Steam, so I suppose if the performance is really poor, I might have to build that new SB desktop a bit sooner than I originally planned.

I'm not a programmer, but even jumping from a Core2Duo @ 2.8ghz to a i5 2500k @ 3.30ghz has made my games run much better. Why would it allow me to run higher graphics settings if all it did was AI/physics?

I assume it helps with streaming large textures, draw distance, water effects, and/or shadows.

None of those. That would just have helped Windows run better in the background, leaving more processing power for the game itself. But it didn't change what the CPU does - allocate and calculate.

Help Windows run what? Everything on a computer is a calculation.

A graphics card is a processor too, just a specialized one.

Uh, yes it is, that's not the point. ^_^
I meant to type "allocate and calculate what it usually does". CPU is processing scripts, all those things you mentioned are handled by the GPU. Unless of course we're talking Oblivion engine ini hacks, allowing for more AI scripts in more cells to be processed at the same time. Though that just means that the CPU is doing more of what it does - AI, physics, other scripts, and the part of actually showing it again is done by the GPU.

Interesting. Higher specs than I expected, but they still shouldn't be a problem.

Anyway, new news for those who don't subscribe to mailing lists:

Looks like they'll be tackling the big issues at the conference. I'm particularly interested in the details of the saved game importing, how it's being implemented and how it'll affect the game and story. Of course my interest may have something to do with never keeping my saved games.

I really wanted to play the Witcher before Witcher 2 came out. I bought a copy but it turns out it doesn't work with 64 bit windows 7. :banghead:

I have it installed and it runs fine - (Enhanced version with the director's add-ons) I had the most problems with registration on their website, as my browser security was set too high.
