Need some computer help.

I just got a new desktop with windows 7 home premium.

It made me make the windows disks myself, so i did.

Now the problem, I was re skinning my windows (Yes, i did back up all the files i had to change) But, i accidentally loaded a 32bit explorer/shell32.dll file. In other words, my windows explorer wouldn't start.

I was just going to boot from the disk and repair windows, then i realize it wont boot to disk. Just goes to a black screen. I know it isn't doing anything as my tv/monitor then says no signal..
I'm not really sure what is going on here to be honest. I managed to fix the computer via system restore (Boy that was hard to locate via the run command of task manager.)

But, in case i screw up again, i would really like to get it booting to disk.

The computer is an ASUS desktop PC CM1630, with a AMD Athlon II X2 220 @2.80 GHz, 4gb of ram, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Anyone know what i should do?

Go into the BIOS and set the boot priority to disk?

Disk number 1, of the windows disk it tells you to make as soon as you start up for the first time.

Don't know whats wrong with your Windows7 CD, but maybe this helps to restore the shell64.dll (you deleted it if I'm right?):

http://dllerror.net/shell64.html

and

How to install dll files:
http://dllerror.net/how-to-install-dll-files.html

Maybe you can also repair your windows when you start your windows cd within windows.
The command line interface is your best friend if you can't start the windows explorer (Start->Run->"cmd" or Task Manager->File->New Task->"cmd")

I hope that helps a bit.

Just a shot in the dark based off my own experiences. Do you have a floppy drive? If so, try disabling it.

When I had a floppy with W7 it would take up to 5 minutes to get to the UI. As soon as I disabled the floppy drive in the BIOS it booted straight up.

Good luck.

When I had to reinstall Win7, I had a similar issue trying to get it to boot from disc. My issue was that a USB drive was plugged in and preventing it from booting from the disc. My BIOS was even set to ignore the USB drive, but it wouldn't, and I had to remove the USB drive to get it to boot.

Some OEMs (I noticed Toshiba does this) have the last disc you make need to be the first disc you put in (it's the Windows recovery environment)

Beyond that, it's possible the discs are bad. Can you boot off of a Linux live CD? If you can, then you know it is specific to those CDs and more than likely they are bad.
