Help me slay the dreaded Skeleton

EDIT: Ugh, the title is meant to be We*

I've started playing Daggerfall again after a few months of playing other games. So I take a leisurely stroll through Privateer's hold with my new character(High Elf Custom Battlemage, Crit Weakness against Para, Poison & Disease, but bonus to hit Vs. Undead and Daedra, enchanced magery and longsword expertise. Also, healing in dark and immunity to Magic and Shock.). All was going fine, I blasted my way through with my trusty ol' shock spell, turning my steel longsword on anyone who would dare survive, and then I came to the skeleton. The starter dungeon skeleton who haunts the dreams of Daggerfall player new and old. At the moment, I know 3 ways to get around him, but still. This is a matter of Altmer pride. I cannot let a man with no muscles or flesh walk over me like that, so with that in mind, I raised my steel blade, and charged, my health and mana full. After reaching the Skeleton, I let off four shock spells, and then got in 4 longsword hits. But he survived and cut me down.

I have too great a sense of honour to run are go around this vile foe, and I wish to dispatch of him for the good of Tamriel. So I turn to you, wise old adventurers, for advise on how to slay this unholy abombination!

First off, If you aren't using a blunt weapon, you only do half-damage. Also, I can't imagine those shock spells did anything at all, but I may be wrong.

I assume you are familiar with the usual dodging tactics for Daggerfall? He will change his stance when he is about to attack; if you back off then, he'll either miss or be forced to advance on you again before attacking. It pays to back off and circle him a while--don't let him back you into a corner! You can rush in, get a few swipes in, and then back off before he can retaliate.

Thanks for the advice. I renewed the battle, however, this time with my superior dodging tactics, I slew the knave! Glory!

Position him so that your first blow knocks him over the side of the stairs. Bone puddle at the bottom :>
