Silver Armor - Daggerfall

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:50 am

Was browsing through the daggerfall manual and it states that some creatures (they don't specify) are
afraid to touch it...they don't go into great detail and I was wondering if there are any hard statistics on this.

Not that I have ever found many pieces anyway...maybe a pauldron a long time ago heh...

Another odd thing it seems I can sell a certain style of steel pauldron and get an offer of 5000 or so for it.
Not even enchanted just an ornate looking +4 steel...anyone else?

I'm sure it's just referring to the fact that some creatures can only be hurt by silver or better weaponry.
Specifically: Ghost, Wraith, Nymph, Werewolf, Wereboar, Vampire.
Beyond that: harpies require dwarven; daedra, liches, and Vampire Ancients require mithril.

As Dr Memory puts it, those such pieces are "supercharged." That is, they have a lot more enchantment points than usual. The only way to tell if a piece is supercharged is to, well, try to sell it like you did and notice the insane price, or to try to enchant it and notice it then. I don't know why some pieces of armor come out supercharged, or if it's intentional or just a bug or what.

I never noticed that. I usually just pawnshop all my stuff at once and don't look at the price I get for it.

I've never even seen a piece of silver armour.

Silver armor is extremely rare for some reason. I think it was on the UESP that list strange and challenging things to do in DF, and one was to find a full suit of silver armor.

That might be an interesting task if there were certain places you could find it rather than having armour appear completely randomly throughout the game. Maybe if I boost my luck I'll find some.

Wow, I found a silver pauldron in Privateers Hold when I made a new character a week ago, didn't know it was rare.

Although I was really lucky with that start as I found that enchanted right pauldron (free move), an enchanted shirt (slowfall) and a healing mark all in Privateers Hold. My luck was at 60.

There is a spell that creates armor. It will create silver armor with what seems to me the same likelihood that you'll find some in a treasure pile.

Admittedly that's not terrifically interesting either, but there are additional wealth accumulation implications that might intrigue one.
