Official TESV Speculation Thread #80

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:10 am

However now an announcement seems likely, and considering the main article was on game industry.biz cause I remember seeing it on the site it seems as if he could be telling the truth.

I wasn't entirely clear in our reception of Oughton's quote. While we didn't embrace it as completely true, we also didn't reject it completely. We thought there was probably a grain of truth to his comments (unless he is a complete nincompoop) but probably best to interpret it as a ballpark figure. Also, in context of the interview from which the quote comes, it seemed to refer more to a release than an announcement - which is the part we most adamantly dispelled.

theres one thing that keeps bugging me about that eurogamer article. Where have we ever seen dragon lord in Elder Scrolls lore before? I assume they're referring to Akatosh, but where have we ever seen that in-game before? He's always reffered to as the Dragon God or Dragon God of Time. Correct me if im wrong but seems fishy to me

I assumed it was a mistranslation from the original language of something akin to "Dragonborn." Since the Blades were mentioned alongside it I figured it might be that. or it could be Akavir, Ysmir, Akatosh, Shor, any sort of thing.

Peryite's the only other dragon I can think of, and maybe the Tsaesci could be a possibility, but I agree. I have completely ignored that article.

I still don't get why IGN would bother to put up Elder Scrolls V in there search engine like it was a real game though.

Why haven't they locked the thread yet? I'm pretty sure I remember Summer coming in here after the post limit was reached.

Yeah, that does seem to be quite pretentious. For some reason they feel confident enough about the rumor to take the next step. One thing that would not surprise me is if there has been some hidden "off the record" pvssyr between the game-news outlets and Bethesda personnel that gives them more confidence to reproduce the original rumor.

That's because we've been firing off 10 posts every 30 seconds, the mods can't keep up. :D

Right, it all adds up yet it does add up, considering that I've dealt with marketing and cross promotions it's not that hard to get sites to write a little blurb about your company if you give them the right price, and imo if it wasn't an elder scrolls game and something else they wouldn't have bothered and it would be a different rumor. Let's not forget that Microsoft is treating kinect like a consul launch as well if they released a game such as that for kinect it would practically force the gamer to buy it to experience the game as full lol.

An announcement during Thanksgiving weekend would be a disaster for the forums when the moderators would be off enjoying their time off from work and being with family, etc.

It's a conspiracy! They're creating the new TESV sub-forum... or perhaps they're just toying with us.

IGN is keeping the TES5 rumour alive because so many of us are scrambling over to their site, reading their forums and reading the other 'news' - TES5 is bringing in an audience.

If you thought yesterday was bad I can't wait for the havoc caused by the announcement. I personally love the chaos, when everyone pics apart the images we have and anolyzing every frame of the trailer. That will be a fun way to spend the holidays. ;)

But really, we need a new thread, don't we?

The more you think about it, Magazines like GI are great, but Beth breaking tradition seems absolutley possible. Marketing is shifting to Online hype and aggresive advertising campaigns. Having said that, this is whole different world and economy than 5 years ago,he'll things were much different 2 years ago. Social Networking has hit critical mass much as the Internet being available to much more of the masses. Read this:http://setonstun.com/2010/11/black-ops-steals-the-marketing-show

I simply believe that tradition will be broken and this release will be FOLLOWED up with a GI cover perhaps?

I think an Official annoncement is probable within the next few days, certainly this year.

Good grief. Thank for the reports for locking. Nice help for Thanksgiving. Ok, you are forgiven.

I'll start another.
