General Gameplay

IMO he was playing the objective. Like "guard" the players capable of completing the primary objective. If you get that mission, staying near the people you're guarding gains you constant exp, I believe it may be that instead of lag / bullet penetration.

Also, can anyone confirm if the slide move is available only to lights, or does medium/heavy get it too?

It is confirmed that Mediums can do it (you can see a guy with an assault rifle do the slide in the video). Not sure on Heavies, but I bet they can do it too. They just won't go nearly as far.

A whole video on lights shooting while wall running? If there's 7 videos like was stated earlier, I'm inclined to believe the last 4 will go over each class. These are tutorial videos found in game...it'd make sense to have a video over each to help people decide what class to play and how to play it.

Sorry no class specific videos (i think), the topics of the videos are as follows though: Intro, Objectives, Classes, Customization, Smart, HUD, and Incapacitation. According to the Compendium these are the tutorial videos, but there isn't one entitled General Gameplay and we got that today, so there could be some new ones that we don't know about (including class specific ones) or some of them could have been renamed. I guess we'll find out soon enough though.

Pretty sure there are 7. Check the Brink Compendium compiled by HORSE. I saw that the day the first video came out and thought "Man, 7 videos with 2 weeks to go! They're probably going to release one every other day, and that would get us all the way till launch!" Evidently I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, I love the videos and am psyched that we're getting one every day, but if there are 7, and they put out a new one every day, than they'll run out of videos exactly a week before it releases and then we'll really start wanting videos and other previews. Getting 7 videos in 7 days is going to spoil us and we'll get even more eager and really start going nuts when we aren't getting them any more. Heck I'm going nuts right now just waiting for tomorrows video!

We are probably going to get a release trailer soon with some TV spots hopefully if SP cares about their marketing at all, so it wont be too bad.

Its a shooter with parkour elements. Not a parkour simulator with shooting elements.

I hope tomorrow's is the Customization video. It's been a while since we've seen some previously unseen clothes and gun attachments.

If you got that from the Compendium, those sections don't apply to these videos. The videos are being released by Splash and Bethesda, while HORSE wrote those for an external media group. These will be tutorial videos in game as well; I don't see there being a tutorial for customization - that's pretty self explanatory - and there is no way a whole video will be dedicated to the HUD, especially considering that they went over that in the first video, as well as an introduction to Brink.

I am confused. Now what exactly is a knockdown? Can you voluntarily get back up by yourself?

This is the main reason why you can't compare BRINK to Mirror's Edge - Mirror's Edge is completely parkour with a small bit of shooting, and BRINK is completely shooting with a small bit of parkour.

@ vampire: A knockdown is when you get hit hard enough in a small amount of time that you fall on your bum. You can shoot back, or you can choose to stand back up, but that takes some time, and you can't shoot as well. I've heard you can't shoot at all if you stand back up.

Knockdowns are achieved by Slide tackles, Gunbutts, Hand grenades, Grenade launchers, and close-up shotgun blasts.

What are you not impressed with? I am confused at your statement. Do you not like how they are executing it?

Okay that is what I was confused about because in the video he is just on the ground the whole time shooting.

You may be right about that, but it touched base on things like objectives in the intro video and then expounded on it in the objectives video, so that may be what they are doing for these videos too if they have them still. I didn't say anything about this in my original post, but they also may have combined some of the videos, or even taken some out altogether. The Compendium was also posted in March so some of these things could have changed dramatically. I certainly don't claim to know everything, but HORSE has been a pretty reliable source for a while and those are the tutorial videos he saw at PAX East, but like i said before, things could have changed since March, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
P.S. I did know the Get SMART series will be available as in-game tutorials. Just wanted clarify that as I couldn't find a spot in the text where it would make sense.

I like how your character holds his gun closer to his chest if he's standing in front of wall, great attention to detail. And of course it'll stop the guns clipping through the wall in 3rd person view.

It's been said by the devs that you have to choose between shooting and standing up - didn't 100% confirm that you CAN'T shoot, but was implied. The "shooting at a massive accuracy penalty" was confirmed later.

It's one of the most famous vampire quotes ever, from the most famous vampire novel ever (Don't try to claim the Twilight fairies are vampires).
