Twice as Oblivion's day is perfect for me.

I'm usually on 1:5, because the preset 1:30 is just insane, and I turn it down to 1:1 when I'm in for some serious roleplaying :)
Of course I buy for PC, so can just adjust with console -- but since many people can't do that, I think they'd better set the default to about 1:15 or maybe 1:10... doesn't really make any difference to me though.

As far as I know, 1:12 was Oblivion's settings. Went too far for my taste though. I usually set it at Set Timescale to 2 or 4. So, 1:2 or 1:4. That works best for me.

1:30 was Oblivion′s setting, without a doubt.

I want 1:10 in Skyrim, heck even perhaps 1:6 but then days may run too slowly for me to get things done.

If it's possible, I'd actually like the timescale to change depending on where you are or what you're doing. Traveling would eat up a lot of time to simulate how big the world is (or is supposed to be). Walking through a town wouldn't take as much time, and if you're inside or talking to someone the timescale should slow down quite a lot. That may be too much to ask for, but if they could pull it off I'd be impressed. c:

I chose: 1 in game hour equals 6 real minutes. I had no issue with the timescale in Oblivion, but sometimes thought the time per hour ratio could be to short.

I went for 1:4, although now I'm thinking that could be too much

Me too, I think Oblivion and the rest were a bit too fast. I remember when I first got out of the sewers and I was confused because it rained for like a minute, then it was sunny for a while all of a sudden, then it rained again. Have you played Zelda: Ocarina of Time? It's ridiculous because you can see the sun/moon going across the sky in like two minutes :P

As long i have choices i don t care, this is easy to implement...and should be an inbox feature.
Each time a TES game is out the door, Modders have to do it.

I agree with this; ideally the UI would provide players with a slider that allows them to move between reasonable maximum and minimum timescales.

Because we have the wait option, I would like the actual time to go slower, 1 IG hour would be 6 minutes. Meaning that if I want day light I should get around 1 hour in real life of it before night falls, instead of it getting dark a second after I have exited the place I spent the night on.

Ever been in Norway? Here we can have sunny weather one moment, rain the next and snow ten minutes later.

I've been to Halden and Oslo, would love to see Lofoten and those northern areas as well. A little rockier than the Swedish mountains which are more like rolling hills. Mountainous areas usually have swift weather changes, so I'm not surprised you do. But anyway, the areas around the Imperial City aren't that mountainous right? ;) Maybe except for the Jeralls then.

I was thinking about that at first. Because it would be kind of cool to play in "Real Time". But then I thought "Do I really want to play 24 hours until I am on the next day?".

Voted 1:4 although I'm more a 1:1 kind a guy. In Arma2 we have 1:1 because, well, it's supposed to be realistic. The sun and moon cycles (even stars) there also respond to time of year and latitude of the landscape (but not latitude within the same landscape, as it can't be big enough). However not even 1:4 fits well with the compressed landscape, so the devs should choose whatever they think is appropriate for the size, and not listen to us.

However, if we don't get seasons with varying day lengths and sunrise speeds, they could consider darker but shorter nights (as darker would be far less forgiving and convenient), with an artificially long sunrise period. Say first contact (sundisc on horizon) at 2100 (9PM), dark at 2300 (11PM), and it starts to grow daylight again at 0300 and last contact at 0500.

Full daylight between 0700 and 1900 (7PM).
Full night between 2300 (11PM) and 0300.
Day lasts 12 hours, night lasts 4 hours, and dusk and dawn lasts 4 hours each.
Far north this represents autumn or spring. Far north sun never sets during the summer.
And the trees in screenshots looks like autumn to me, so it doesn't appear to break anything.
Vampires still get to enjoy the full 12 hour period from 1900 (7PM) to 0700.
After sun is completely gone, there are still hours of atmospheric glow to "use".

The most annoying thing is trying to enjoy a good sunset, and it's over in a snap :(

I would like if time went a lot slower than in Oblivion/Morrowing. I love to admire the night skies, but they only last for about 8 minutes in Oblivion which is kinda lame.

I voted for 1:4 because of that.

The downside of this is that you'll probably be able to cross the entire map in 1 IG hour.

My guess is an option to toggle fast/slow in-game time would be the best solution :P.
