Basically, all I want to do is change my Display Name. I've looked at other threads that have said "make a new account". However, it won't allow me to with the same email address.

Is there a way to delete my current account or is it impossible? Am I stuck with this one forever?

Change your email address for your current account to a throwaway one (Mailinator does them) and then create your new account

I'd send an admit a PM asking to get your name changed instead, so that you can keep your posts.

They only usually do name changes for capitalisations and such.

Yep, the admin will snip off a number, change an underscore to a space, adjust your capitalization, or other minor tweaks but they won't approve a total or partial name change. They also won't delete accounts, it messes up the database (all of those posts get listed as belonging to anonymous members and if that wasn't bad enough in and of itself it tends to result in PMs asking how this happened).

I had an awful name with like 2500 posts and then I switched to this account. However I just searched and it doesn't seem to be there so maybe it didn't make it through one of the migrations heh.

So that's what all those Guest_Name_* accounts are all about. I wondered about that for a while, but never thought it important enough to ask. Given their age I just figured they were culled in the last forum purge.
