Knife Swipe Mid-air

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:31 am

One of the things that I really hope that Brink does well, is close-quarter combat, and by that I mean short-melee range. I really hope that you won't be able to kill more than one person with a melee attack and that people will slide, jump and strafe to evade each other's bullets and melee attacks. In other words, don't [censored] up the hit-boxes please. So, yeah. I was wondering if it will be possible to do melee attacks mid-air? I really hope so.

I can't imagine why you couldn't be able to.

The thing is, in MAG you can't swipe in mid-air, at least not if you have jumped into the air. In order to be able to, you have to let yourself drop from a ledge and then you can swipe. The reason I'm asking is that I like the idea of sprinting up next to another player, run up a wall, leap off of it and over the player, slashing him in the face. :D

I hope they do not allow people to fire weapons after jumping into the air so people arent halo jumping all over and are actually use SMART.

if you were sprinting up next to him why not just slah him instead of running past and jumping off a wall? it just gives him a chance to shoot at you.

True. And it wouldn't be too abusable unless melee was OHK, which it isn't.

Although melee should cause knockback.

Nope. If you're running at someone, you don't run in a straight line, which your scenario suggests. By running towards the wall, you'd force him to keep turning, making him less likely to hit you.

I think the 'shove' should cause a knockback, but the knife shouldn't. That way to add some variation between melee attacs, making one a knockback attack and the other a heavy damage attack.

I just read HORSE's thread. Lights can be killed with a knife in one hit if they have not received a health buff, and chances are that it will mostly be lights carrying pistols (which is needed to use the knife), as the heavier types can have SMGs and heavier.
