It's all part of the plan...

And hey, the imperium of man is going through a slow decay, attacked on all sides, with no allies. While they should be doomed to fall at some point, GW will never, ever let that happen.

Do not ask which creature screams in the night,
Do not question who waits for you in the shadow.
It is my cry that wakes you in the night,
And my body that crouches in the shadow.
I am Tzeentch and you are the puppet
That dances to my tune.

The strength of Chaos and even some of yours Emperor pales before the great might of Sigmar.

So who around here supports the theory that Sigmar was one of the lost primarchs? And that the Fantasy world is actually fully apart of the great 40k universe.

GW said they're not, as much as I like to think there is a connection (which was certainly explored in Liber Chaotica)

Isn't the God-Emperor 40k's Sigmar http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Expy

GW says a lot of things. Personally, I kinda think it's more fun to have that connection, even if it really doesn't have any bearing on the game. Though one could also speculate that the Fantasy world is an alternate reality of the 40k alternate reality (it's hard to deny that Fantasy world looks a heck of a lot like Earth). Instead of the Emperor becoming...well, the Emperor, he becomes Sigmar instead, and founds a very different Empire.

Isn't the God-Emperor 40k's Sigmar expy?

That, or the Emperor himself! *see above*

*

I'm just throwing ideas around, I really don't have anything to back that up other than that it would be pretty cool.

I like that more. But, considering the nature of Chaos, alternate realities mean nothing. Therefore, IT'S ALL IN THE SAME UNIVERSE!!!!

I shall now drop down my Chaos Marines into the fantasy world, and completely take charge :)

TAKE THAT SIGMAR!!!

Hypothetically if I did support Chaos (which is Heresy) my favored patrons would look like this.

1. Tzeentch due to his manipulating abilitys despite being just a pawn and that he probably doesn't care about winning instead spending eternity plotting and scheming plans ensuring a balance of forces because http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StatusQuoIsGod.
2. Khorne because of berserker rage killing anyone in my path, maiming those who somehow escapes me, and setting aflame those who get in the way.
3. Slaanesh because atleast he/she/it isn't Nurgle.
4. Nurgle's idea of love and affection is quite different then my own and don't much care for becoming a walking sack of putrid pus. I can understand however why many join him because afterall how does one kill decay.

I don't know if this has been brought up yet, but what do you guys think of that 40K MMO they're making? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odTtU9Tdtbk

I just hope they do better with this than they did with Age of Reckoning, that was such a let down.

I might check it out, but I'll only buy if it's' not too WoWy and isn't bad. I'm really looking forward to space marine myself.

... BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!! (Speaking of that, I got a dare on the Dakkadakka forum to yell that in a church, video it, and post it on youtube. I am deeply considering it :P)

Ya know, since the warp is essentially a giant "Screw you!" to all reality, technically Chaos Space Marines could just go and take over the Warhammer Fantasy world... if Blood Angels and Necrons can work together, anything is possible.

I maaaaaaay check out Dark Millenium if it gets good reviews, but I'm more excited for Space Marine. I've always thought the 40k universe had a great potential for a shooter, but only if done right.

I really have to ask, are these actual books? Or are they like D&D style books that are really campaign settings? All I know is reading this thread is making me wish I had looked into this setting before, it sounds damn interesting.

The codices cover the stats and rules and such for the various factions, with official information on the setting. There are also novels which use the setting, but often don't fit entirely well with the stuff that's definitely canon.

The Ciaphas Cain, Eisenhorn, Gaunt's Ghosts, and Horus Heresy books fall into the later category (with the HH ones theoretically being completely canon).

EDIT: Lexicanum has a http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Category:Novels of them. Based on a quick look at it, it seems there are some Eldar books after all: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Eldar_Prophecy_%28Novel%29 and the Eldar series, which starts with http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Farseer_%28Novel%29 (also counts as a rogue trader one). Looks like there's even a Chaos one, http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Daemon_World_%28Novel%29.

Unless you're interested in going into the tabletop, my reccomendation would be to read the fluff (that's the background information and "lore" for the series) that's in the codexes next time your at the book store. (Don't buy, just read. only buy if want them on a shelf) And then buy the novels or try to get them at the library.

Yeah, if you just wanna get into the lore, I'd just go on the Games-Workshop site to get the basic info, then start reading the 40k books. Its a really interesting universe.

Personally, I just use the Warhammer 40000 Wikia. Lexicanum is better, though. Im just used to using wikis.
