Why me?

Please do not post any MAJOR spoilers answering this question.

I am at the point where I met Caesar and he gave me the platinum chip and told me to go down to the bunker and destroy whatever was down there. My question is this. Why on earth would he give me something that valuable having never met me and not really knowing what I'd do with it. If I was Caesar, I might give it to someone trustworthy and loyal (his second in command comes to mind, I forget his name). I just found it curious that he so willingly handed the thing over. I'm still torn what to do. I was planning on siding with the Legion until I got the chip, now for some reason I don't know what to do with it.

He's trying to use the whole "I trust you to do the right thing (IE. what I want you to do)" line that parents use on children.

I though the logic is weak. His excuse is that he doesn't want to kill good men, so he has to use an outsider and you happen to be at the right place at the right time.

Maybe his asked you to do it because all that he heard of you is that you are a survivor. So you probably won't risk months of torture and eventual death by arousing his Ire.

The bunker is in the middle of his territory/base - so it is in a way an offer you cannot refuse.

It is just moronic that he can't just send down a newbie recruit (or maybe even a slave) with remote camera and radio with you.
