Borderlands? how?

Rage looks like it'll play like Borderlands, I think it's mainly the art style that people have compared Brink to Borderlands.

When talking to my less informed friends about it, I compared Brink to: Shadowrun, Borderlands, Monday Night Combat, Enemy Territory, and Mirrors Edge.

FOR GOODNESS' SAKE PEOPLE! That was the "everything in between". Stop missing the point!

It doesn't matter what we compare it to, it's its own game entirely. (P.S. Check that grammar... oh yeah...)

Well... When talking to people who ask "What's Brink?" and are far too lazy to even glance at videos, I make a comparison to what they do know. And what they have played. Yes, Brink is its own game. This doesn't mean that SD hasn't borrowed aspects from other games, however. (Every video game on the market does this).

Everyone is inspired by everything around them, especially those closest to what they do. In this case, games.

They've even stated it in interviews, comparing and contrasting Brink's gameplay to Team Fortress 2's, for example. I know that.

Well think about it this way.
I've been trying to convince my friends to get Brink and I did that by telling them about different aspects of games of what they like such as Borderlands for the art style, TF2 for the teamwork and telling them that its not all run and gun.
To me comparision is just a way of advertising and inspiration

I think once you start playing Brink, you'll see they're very different games. The first thing that comes to mind for me when I'm playing it is the fact that you're getting XP for each shot. But you're also getting XP for all the various objectives.

Any comparison between this game and Borderlands is wrong imo.
There isn't really any strong similarities.

I'm playing Borelands now and I hope it's not like it. If it's more like tf2 that would be fine but not like Borelands please.

Anyone who's watched any of the gamplay for BRINK knows it is not even remotely like Borderlands, so lets go easy here folks.

Probably because of the post-apocalyptic-ish setting and stylized artstyle.

I must admit, I actually thought it looked a little like Borderlands when I first saw it, especially in the run-down parts of Container City (I think that's what it was called), lol.
Reminded me a bit of the Bandits' hideouts in Borderlands, personally. The guns kind of remind me a little of Borderlands, too, lol---don't know why, though.
Also, the RPG elements may remind people of Borderlands (which has RPG elements as well). Oh! In the older builds, didn't people used to have numbers coming out of
them whenever you shoot them? Total Borderlands reminder, there, hee.

However, the setting in Rage (that other FPS Beth. game) reminds me of Borderlands as well---but even more so than Brink.

It's just a knee-jerk human reaction or a feeling, that's all. No need to get worked up about it. Chill, people. Brink is not a baby, lol (he's a big boy!).

Besides, people may compare games in order to give their friends a description of how the new game is like.

I would say (based on my lack of knowledge of FPS'es and basic descriptions of the various FPS games) Brink is a little like TeamFortress 2, Enemy Territory with a tiny, tiny bit of Mirror's Edge.

I think they get compared because Borderlands is sweet, and Brink is sweet. I think we can all pretty much agree on that
