Fallout: NV alternate ending suggestions?

If you were kind of disappointed with how NV ended (I mean, come on?) or you just think you have a better idea, put it here!

I didn't really get how you defeating your enemies and Yes Man upgrading his software ends the game.. although i knew that it was gona do the "you beat it, main menu" thing.

But when i was playing i kept trying to think about how they were going to do it. I figured it would be like in the last game, where you have the choice to sacrifice yourself to save the many.

The way I would have done it:

During the battle something damages part of the dam. someone has to go down and shut something off or close something, or the entire dam will be lost and the people of NV will lose their electricity. The catch is, who ever you decide has to go down and close off the collapsing section, will most likely die. In the DLC, you wake up on the beach down river, and are met by the leaders of the factions that you chose to win the battle. You find out everything went how you wanted it to, and there are tons of super cool new quests to boot.

The ending changes a lot, depending on the numerous choices you make throughout the game.

No, the ending was fine. Wonderful, in fact. It was very much like the original Fallout endings. Some stupid piece of crap "contrived self-sacrifice" ending would only have taken away from the impact of the ending slides. Contrived self-sacrifice is one of the big reasons why the vanilla Fallout 3 ending became famous for one of the worst ends in gaming history.

The only thing I would have changed was made more of the side quests count in the ending. Not because there's too few, but because more consequences in the ending is always good.

As there are 5 endings

will put them in spoiler area

Spoiler

First - Independent New Vegas with securitron protection (I think this is the most Good Ending) you get this by working with Yes Man and saying to power the securitron army
Second - NCR (I consider this light grey ending) you help NCR
Third - Mr House (I consider this pure grey) as said you help Mr. House
Fourth - Legion (I consider this dark grey for all thier faults they do have some principles) you help Ceaser
Fifth - Chaotic New Vegas (I think this is the most evil ending) you get this by working with Yes Man and saying to destroy the dam

I will not go into details on why especially for 1 and 5 as you have to see the endings to understand
