Does Your Character Model Need More Slots for Wearable Items

Post » Tue Jul 06, 2010 5:28 pm

You ddn't add a layering option for clothes and robes/cloaks.
How could you not list those?

The jewelry is a bit overboard but it be cool. Only 2 rings though.

Thats why poll should include an automatic "other" option.

You missed the "other" option.

An "Other" should be automatic, people often create very biased polls some times with out even meaning to, other would correct that. Sure there would be some rare poles were it might not makes sense, but it would not hurt the poll in anyway.
At least half the polls here are nearly worthless due to there poor wording, being biased, etc. An "Other" option would would be good for everyone, as some polls people would be interested in, yet the poll is flawed so they can't get the true info they want and the poll is already made, so making another would just get it closed.

The question was if you would like more slots for wearable items.... so it's either yes, you do, or no, you don't. In either case, you can explain why you said yes, and even include you think I missed some options or ideas that could have gone in. If you said no, maybe it was because there was an "other" option you wanted to discuss and my ideas didn't work for you, which means no. So the poll has a better result, as most people think if they are going to say something else they can't select yes or no, and MUST select other, which then makes most of the votes go to something I feel is useless. If I am polling about something other than a yes or no question then maybe I would add an "other" option for you. But I don't like seeing all the votes go to "other" and leaving me wondering what your answer was supposed to actually be. I would then have to read every comment and make my own vote as to what I thought you were saying "almost yes?" or "almost no?" and why should I do that work if the poll can do it for me automatically. So thanks for your reasoning and for questioning me, that's actually a good thing and I support that, but I stand by my decision for this poll.

Now instead of getting upset, I would welcome your reasons for saying "other" because in taking the time to explain why my poll was seemingly flawed, you forgot to mention what your "other" reason would have been... I look forward to hearing about it, good sir or ma'am.

Look at the post I replied to, I guess you must have miss an option that you did not think of, should of had "other".

And your yes/no are biased because you give reasons for them, yet someone might say no but but not think "6 slots, 26 slots, what's the difference? It seemed good enough before....". They might have a different reason and thus "No...etc" would not be an option they could pick, as it would not reflect there view.

So you missed options and gave a biased yes/no option. Sure perhaps a better written poll would work, but we are all not master poll makers, having "other" automatic would help.

Back slot please.

For backpacks, shields, etc.

And for the waist slot, that's where I'd set the quiver. That was a legitimate option to have it slung down there as it was an easier draw.

helm/hat
gloves/gauntlets (maybe left and right since some will cast with one hand and might want a glove on that instead of gauntlet)
cuirass+pauldrons can be combined as in Oblivion IMO
greaves
boots/shoes (wearing separate ones would just be off balancing)

can be worn with -
robe(over)
shirt(under)
pants(under)
2 rings
amulet/necklace

The more the merrier I say.

I love a lot of you'r ideas, especially the forehead slot one. Never thought of that.

Probably better to say head, lots of mods with headbands and similar you put on your head without removing the hair, however you would not be able to wear it under a helmet.

In Daggerfall I could wear a cat-suit, a shirt, armor, a robe, a cape, and a cloak all at once!

I'm happy with Oblivion's system as long as there is more options for clothes at the same time (cloaks especially) and more variety of clothing styles, in Daggerfall there were clothes that looked from all over the world like Egyptian, Japanese and Middle Eastern clothing, as well as heaps of medieval/dark ages gear.

IMO:
- it would be a pain to wear gloves when you have ten rings on you
- hand slots = wrist slots
- head slots = forehead slot
- shin slots = legs or feet slots

Anything but the horrible split gloves/pauldrons/boots. Unless you want a lot of characters to look like [censored] clowns. Funny thing is a lot of people complain about how gloves and pauldrons were combined in Oblivion and how this was not immersive/unrealistic but never bother to mention that boots were just one item in Morrowind as well, which made even less sense (gloves/pauldrons seperated and boots combined?).

If we take Oblivion's slots as base, I'd like them to add a back slot (for cloaks) and a waist slot (for belts) and add pauldrons again. Wirst/bracers could be added but I don't feel they're as important. More slots overall (up to a point where it becomes too much to handle) is always a good thing though, because it adds meaningful customization.

Clothing under/over armor would be cool as well.

2 Rings, Amulet/Necklace, Shirt, Pants and maybe a back slot for a cape or cloak. The Shirt, Pants and Cape/Cloak would have no magical properties, and be unenchantable, purely for looks. Maybe an Enchant for cloak.

Helm, Spaulders, Gauntlets, Greaves, Boots, Chestplate.

Would be a nice minimum, If they wanted to add bracers, a couple other of the 'cosmetic' slots, a trophy slot sky's the limit honestly. Although I'll admit I like the trophy idea if you could put it on multiple slots depending what the trophy was. "What's that there on your spaulder?" "Oh this? Just the lower jaw of a cave troll I killed a couple days ago.."

I want to be able to wear 8 rings, I mean I have 8 fingers don't I?
Then I can travel the towns imprinting my expensive ass sovereign rings into peasants faces.

seeing as the game is scheduled for launch in 9 months.. i doubt they will be able to make any changes to the game now.. it's probably in it's late beta testing stage already
but i would like it if they brought back the same setup that was used in Morrowind, it gave more diversity and allowed mages to wear some armor, like shoulders without having to equip an entire chestplate.. or have just one armored glove on, for its stats, etc.
