What ideas do you have for gifts/souvenirs?

Post » Sun Jul 11, 2010 10:17 pm

Sooo I'm looking for inspiration for my gift shop mod. I've already stocked it with toy rifles, dress up clothes, postcards, t-shirts, mugs, trucks (nuka-truck retex), poker chips, cards, robot action figures, nightwear, perfume bottles, chocolates, cigars and lighters.

The problem is that they're all small items and have left me with an entire shelf to fill. Which is currently covered with pots, pans and abroxo cleaner  (not the sixy, swinging look I was going for).

So I need your help! Please leave any ideas as to new gifts/souvenirs below. ALL ideas are appreciated as I'm fresh out at the moment.

Thanks! =]

P.S. For an idea of the theme, the mod + pics can be found here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39744

Snowglobes, perhaps? More would be awesome...Retextured Teddy Bears, perhaps neon glowing nicknacks?

By the way, the mod itself is really, really cool from what I see. I'm going to download it. Nice work.

Ah, nice ideas! I'm thinking maybe a neon desk toy of some kind? And I was thinking about snowglobes but I haven't collected any in game yet.. I assumed they'd be like bobbleheads and need a special script and whatnot =/ I'll have a look in the GECK =]

I don't know if you know about my fallout 3 resource pack http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13154, Many of which did make it into FNV. There are picture frames, Bobble heads, Bobble head chess peaces and, much much more.

I have to ask, where did you get that tin robot model? (Red Jimmy, I think you call him.) Is it a resource that I could possibly use, I simply love it.

Maybe a piggy bank Nuka truck, toy laser pistol, era popular Davey Crockett coon skin cap, marbles...I've lost mine and need some new ones  and I am so bugged by the fact there is a nuka cola can on the side of Ed-E's body and not one to be found in game, so I guess Nuka cola cans.

A CHESS SET. LIKE ACTUAL CHESS PIECES.

look at my resource, it has small havok friendly bobble heads "made by request, for MrsSparkle", There is a black, white and, even a standard blue version. Scaled down to fit on the chess board, I've also included a static chess board to avoid the annoying havok dance you get with "havok object" touch each other.

I love you so much, not just because of CHESS PIECES, but for D.C. Interiors.

I've always wanted to offer to do icons for it, but lets be frank, you've added sixteen billion misc items in that mod. But... if you wanted be to donate icons to NVInteriors every now and again... mmm.

PM me to let me know. I'd love to work something out.

Another thing that would be cool for you to add would be Spurs. I remember someone working on them a long way back, no one ever implemented the. Maybe that too would be a good thing to add to the gift shop?

I like T3T's idea too. :P

Action figures would be good. Miniature deathclaws, cazadores, gecko's, etc. CevSteel had little Protectrons, Sentry Bots, fridges and hula girls in DC Interiors, I collected all those. Then I displayed them using Feng Shui. Decorating was more fun than playing :)

I have this mod, but haven't been to the Gift Shop yet. I'm nearby so will head over there to check it out properly tonight :)

As I've said above, I've released all of my "DCInteriors Assets" (well the meshes, some textures), as modders resources. If "thejanitor" wants to share other assets, I'm more than willing. Many of my "DCInteriors items" made it into FNV.

Not to derail this tread, my upcoming mod "NVInteriors" will have many of the things you've come to know and love. I'll also be adding many new unique items and, collectables. :celebration:

I tried to point him to my "Modders Resource" to give him a hand.

baha don't worry about it cev, I shamelessly plug my mods every chance I get and the amount of work you put into dcinteriors you deserve marketing rights lol. The robot model is something I put together in blender. There's also a havoked un-boxed version in the file that I never got round to using. Feel free to use it to your heart's content lol. I'd just appriciate it if you kept the name "Red Jimmy" . I'm making a factory mod for them atm so I'd like to keep that brand alive =]

Wow, that gift shop exterior is friggin awesome. I will definitely be downloading this when I get home. As an avid chip collector, I love the chip stack you made! I can't wait to see this in game. Man you got some modeling skills!

As for gifts and whatnot, there are tons of children s toys form the 40's & 50's that would be awesome. You might find something inspiring on this site: http://www.timemachinetoys.com/

I don't know if you are only wanting non-vanilla items, but there are always vanilla assets like the women's bonnet, sixy sleepwear and so forth that could easily be found in a gift shop.

You could make some custom sets of poker chips to sell. Here's some pics from my personal collection. (I buy and build sets large enough to use for home poker games.)

Crystal Park Casino: http://ypdesign.com/chips/Crystal_Parks/crystal_parks.htm
(Crystal Park Casino in LA, actually Compton, lol)

Revolution Room hotstamp solids: http://ypdesign.com/chips/Revolution_Room_Full.htm
(I had these custom made by Blue Chip who makes the chips for the Stratosphere among other Vegas casinos)

My poker room: http://ypdesign.com/chips/table/table.htm
(this is my personal poker room and I have lot's of collectibles that might inspire you in these pics.)

I dunno, maybe something here might give you a spark!

Nexus won't let me endorse yet, but I will try to remember to later.

Great little mod you have there. The models and their textures were outstanding, especially the shop exterior. It's maybe a little too clean for that neighborhood. But nicely done nonetheless. I got a nice chuckle out of the Dino vs Red Jimmy scene on the craps table - very imaginative! You're a talented modeler and it shows! Here, I'll buy ya a cold one! :foodndrink:

Just a FYI, I'm getting all the chems added when it loads too.

Oh, one other thing. Mind of I borrow your chip stacks for my Lucky Casino mod?
