State of Beards in Oblivion

a.k.a. The Beardysburg Address... :D
Four score and 17 months ago our bearded Dunmer ancestors brought forth upon the land of Vvardenfell the nation of Morrowind, conceived in beardedness, and dedicated to the proposition that all (Dunmer and Nord) men can be created with beards.

Now (for the past 4 years) we are engaged in a great (Oblivion) war of beardlessness, testing whether Cyrodiil, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure the limitations of poorly implemented 5 o'clock shadowed faces...

So, after extensively searching google, Nexus, PES, et.al. I find like 3 beard mods and something called Gothic Bretons which claims to have stubble, but the only pics I've seen are just facial tattoos and scars. Is this the extend of what has been done in the realm of facial hair so far??? Is everyone so obsessed with playing female chars, no one cares that your male chars can't have a real beard? (I play in 1st person most of the time, so the only cute bod I'm watching is that of my female companion)

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=2582 - Nords with beards expanded to all non-beast (5 different full-stlye beards with one fairly bushy 'circle'-type beard.

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30140 A few different selections of Beards and mustache+chin strip or 'fu manchu' Combos on... uh NPCs. So that doesn't help much.

http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=253 Mostly facial tattoos/scars and seems to be primarily for females. Couldn't find any screens with the 'stubble.' but this mod is interesting in that I believe it uses the different age textures/slider positions to choose between face textures... still don't know if it has anything close to a beard, though.

I was trying to use my face for a char in my OB game and was able to get fairly decent results using FaceGen (free ver) and FaceGen2Oblivion conversion prog, though all my facial hair is gone. :(

It seems my options are to use the equipable beard mod which doesn't have a goatee w/o the mustache like mine (not to mention missing nice long sideburns) or I could import my face texture from the FaceGen program but I haven't quite figured out how to do that yet (and I'd still be missing sideburns). I exported the raw file using the FageGen to Oblivion conversion program, but I'm not sure how to get it into Oblivion CS, then into my save...

I am not sure whether the sideburns thing can be accomplished with a beard mod or hairstyle... but I haven't seen anything close to a chin beard that goes up to the corners of the mouth but doesn't include a mustache. I even thought of using Sheogorath's beard, but his is grey (mine is still black) and I would probably have to use his full facial texture/mesh...? I guess if I wait long enough, my beard will be closer to Sheogorath's color, but still...

So anyways, kind lost here trying to figure out the best way to make a goatee'd (non-Nord) char (Breton, preferably) and before I waste too many hours on this I wanted to see if anyone had any good solutions.

So are there any other mods/utilities I could use for this?

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9912 is my favorite! Only changes one face, but it is so so worth it.

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30140, maybe?

Oh, sorry, you listed it already. However it's very easy to make any of those added races playable, which would make it possible for you to wear one of those beards.

Yeah, yeah. Beardy Septim. I saw that and I am totally jealous!

Oh yeah, I found that one. Was going to add that it didn't work, but just the omod seems to be broken for some reason. If you copy all the files over manually, it seems to work okay.

This is the one I'll probably use, though there is something wrong with the 'circle' beard/full goatee in there. It's got a double moustache or something and looks weird. It's like the goatee already has the upper lip covered, but they pasted a moustache over it, just to be sure. (Speaking of weird, for some reason the spell checker highlights the word 'moustache', however, if you spell it 'mustache' (the English phonetic) it ignores it. <_< Weird.

Hmmm.... I thought of doing that, though I wondered if it would screw up any dialogue or NPC responses by having a custom race that is supposed to be a vanilla one... I would be making a Breton char; would the game treat "Bearded Breton" the same as the vanilla one...? ;)

Seriously, this is one of the finest mods ever made. And undoubtedly one of the best named. :D

Yeah, I can almost hear him giving the speech at the beginning of my post. BUT - I must add, he would be more Lincoln-like, if he had just a chin goatee (w/o the moustache)!
Actually, moustache or no, I really like the goatee Robert Downey is sporting here (mine is a bit longer than this, though). http://z.about.com/d/menshair/1/0/S/4/-/-/08-balbo.jpg That would be just about perfect (could be a bit longer, but that's ok) for my new Warlock char. Long, stylish sideburns would be nice, but I could live with just a long hairstyle, I guess.

BTW - Does anyone have experience with using FaceGen raw texture files (from the free version) in CS? Is it possible to get decent results (or possible, period) using the raw texture data from FaceGen to import into Blender and create a good facial texture (with facial hair) for import to an Oblivion file?
