Bigger monsters in Skyrim?

Post » Mon Jul 19, 2010 7:03 pm

I agree, the rats should not be much larger than deer unless you can mount them.
I made another tread about this, rat increase in size from Morrowind to Oblivion to Fallout.

I hope there isn`t going to be any rats at all. They were Oblivions version of Cliff Racers :stare:

Nope. After Super Mutant Behemoths in Fallout 3, I've seen all I want of huge Bethesda creatures. The current dragons and giants should fill the bill just fine.

Yeah, they were done horribly. I think dragons will be the only massive creatures, and they seem to have put a lot of time to make sure they get around and interact with the world properly, so I'm happy.

I was thinking, now that they have made dragons that fly into cities and attack I was imagining a dragon being like two stories tall. Then they have Ice giants, tree giants, and giant spidersI think they said in the GI Coverage, so will those be "giants" as well or will they be like Ogres in Oblivion? When I say giant I mean about 7 feet tall and the spider I dont think is going to be that tall but really wide. Would you guys like bigger monsters?

7 Feet, you kidding me, Ogres are bigger than that! At least 12 feet for the giants.

I'm pleased with dragons, giants and giant spiders. Fo3 super mutant behemoths cannot really be seen as great giant bosses, they were too wide and big, just a bit smaller would have been fine.

Yes it would be great to see bigger enemies. if they are not in it should be a reletivly easy Mod, they keep stats the same and you simply increase the hight and width of the enemy

This is true. I blame James Herbert for it all. :hubbahubba:

Thinking about it some more, I wouldn`t mind some pretty big creatures, but please make them something new and quite exotic..not just gigantical artic mudcrabs or whatever.

Skyrim seems like a land of giants so I voted yes. I do think behemoth/gargantuan creature encounters should be exceptionally rare, and should almost always have a quest or quest chain associated with them. I don't want to run into mumakil sized animals and kraken sized sealife around every corner, but having creatures like this wandering the landscape does give you pause when travelling into new areas and adds to the danger, wonder, and awe of travelling in a fantasy world.

Well a wolly mammoth was larger then an elephant so they might be rather large. I would like to see abnormaly large and even huge variants on common critters just to add a bit of fun to wandering around much like albino radscorpians did in fallout only more so.

It would be fun also if they kicked you out of the way like a wool ball.
If a bear can paw slap a men at up to 4 meters imagine what bigger critter could do to you, armor or not. If armored your just canned food, you probably pass out at second homerun. If not at least you can run and preu to find a hole to hide yourself.

Huge creature CQC melle combat is suicide just by the mass relationship. Your dead unless you able to srike a weak spot and very fast. Thats why fighting big dragons melee is kind of dumb, al the creature has to do is wipe his tail, if your not able to jump above it your the golf ball with broken bones and so you can kiss your life goodby.
I stil dream a time when RPG will implement fisic law the way Flight sim do, and insert a little medecine in the damage, combat will be interesting then.
But such a game is non feasible in sigle player, but put a link beetween up to 4 gamers and hell this will be a dream, a RPG party dream.

This really.

If you want my longer yet very basic opnion, there should be three basic sizes (Note: These are only rough examples)

Normal Enemies (Stuff you would normaly find everywhere: Humans, ogres, Wolves)
Large enemies: (Stuff that should be a less commen occurence, like maybe one or two a dungeon: Giant Spiders, some giants)
Behemoth: (Stuff that should be really big and a challenge, maybe only one per few dungeions: Dragons, larger giants)

YES!! human pcs should be the only enemies the same size (obviously skeletons and zombies too) rats and wolves will always be TES too. i want all enemies to be intimitatingly big or small yet scary/creepy. Giant cave trolls like Lord of the Rings the fellowship (in the dwarven mine) and massively deformed demons using painfuly scary weapons. new possesed children monsters that eat human flesh? possesed by deadrea they live in caves and things of that nature. ocassional skirmishes with them will happen untill you reach their feeding den. then sometimes (not always) a horde will ambush you. some will be soaked in blood while others are all skin and bones (hungry). good idea?

Small fast enemies is the archers nightmare, part of the problem with mountain lions for archers is that they are fast, bounce while running and have a small frontal profile.
Orges and minotaurs are easy as they are so big you can hit them at maximum range.

You contradicted yourself saying you don't want then, then there ok, I was just clarifying.

You failing to comprehend =/= me contradicting myself.

I stated, accurately, that I've seen all I need of giant Bethesda creatures after the fiasco that was Super Mutant Behemoths that were only tough until you realize how stupid easy it was to hang them up on the terrain so you could pick them off at your leisure. I then went on to clarify that the large creatures already announced should be plenty, and that thus I didn't want anything even larger than that:

I was thinking, now that they have made dragons that fly into cities and attack I was imagining a dragon being like two stories tall. Then they have Ice giants, tree giants, and giant spidersI think they said in the GI Coverage, so will those be "giants" as well or will they be like Ogres in Oblivion? When I say giant I mean about 7 feet tall and the spider I dont think is going to be that tall but really wide. Would you guys like bigger monsters?

Note that the OP lists a whole roster of gigantic monsters, then asks "Would you guys like bigger monsters?" No, I think the big ones already in the game are enough.

Does that explain my view well enough for your comprehension level, or do I need to explain it again with pictures? :stare:

Some people don't play Fallout you know.

Anyway, yes, I would like to see some giant-like creatures and stuff.
But most of all, I would like to see some giant water creatures like sea serpents, krakens and other.

I want to go against these freakin towering monster that make me afraid of going against them! seriously! I love being freaked out when facing monsters like that, and when they are hard to kill. I was always afraid to go up against cougars and bears in red dead redemption, because if there was a cougar, your horse was almost always automatically dead, and if you weren't fast enough so were you, and you had to have a big gun to bring down a bear in a couple of shots, or else you had to unload a whole clip into them. I want something like that in Skyrim. Something that makes me go "Oh Crap" when I see one! :woot:
