ED-E Quest Bug - need NPC id

Post » Wed Jul 21, 2010 12:33 am

Hey everyone,

I ran into a bug with ED-E and his quest.

--slight spoiler ahead--

After doing some research, it looks like the quest to bring ED-E to the scrap yard continues when you run through Old Lady Gibson's dialogue. However, I talked to her before I repaired ED-E (needed to get science/repair high enough). So now when I bring him to the scrap yard, I can't continue the quest because I only have the buy/repair/bye dialog options.

I've dug up how to reset NPCs, but not how to get their ids.. can anyone either post the id or give a link to a read-up on how to grab it? I'd appreciate it! I figure resetting Old Lady Gibson should do the trick and let me run through the dialogue again.

Found your answer.

Try this the console:

player.placeatme 00084206

I just tried in game and it spawned her at my feet.

Good luck!

If that doesn't work out for you might want to look into resetting quests.

FYI on future playthroughs, there is a way to repair ED-E without a high Science or Repair skill.

Spoiler
You can repair him with the right parts - three scrap metals, two sensor modules and one scrap electronics - no matter what your Science or Repair skill levels are at.

During the ED-E My Love quest, if you've already spoken with the old lady at the scrap yard, try continuing on to Helios 1. Speak with Ingnacius(sp?), he gives more dialog options which will continue this quest.

Important to note that between each step of his quest you have to wait a certain number of in game days before it'll proceed.

Resetting the NPC didn't work, had to reset the specific quest stage (setstage 001572e8 10) and the dialogue played. Thanks all for the help and tips :) And yeah, I found out too late that it only needed parts - when I found him I had I think 10 repair so I didn't even bother clicking the repair option, clicked Science to see I needed 55 to bring the repair down, so waited until that. :P

Spoilers:

If you already spoke to Old Lady Gibson about HELIOS, you can fix the problem by going to the BOS bunker and talking to people there. That's how I got past this problem.
