Since when did enchant value = http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1167650-how-many-layers-do-you-want/gold value in MW?

That certainly applied to grades of clothing

Precisely.

I think three layers would get a little bit too annoying and confusing. I would constantly be messing up the clothes and armor when I am equipping it. And not to mention I would be spending way too much time figuring out what I want to wear. haha I think two layers would suffice.

I think the easiest solution to enchantment overkill is too simply limit the number of enchantments to their applicable body parts. That is, you can only "absorb" one enchantment through any given spot on your body. That would be head, chest, legs, feet, arms, and hands. I am not in favor of disallowing stackable enchantments, or at least, not on all spells.

lol I voted over 9000!!

But seriously 3 would be great but we need a system that limits enchanting. Otherwise we will all have an enchanted cloak over an enchanted armor over an enchanted shirt and that's kind of overpowered IMO

Unless clothing has charge that runs out if activated say, 20 times

The inventory system never worked in layers, it worked in slots. The number of slots has gradually been a little sporadic, but Fallout 3 had a decent amount that could technically allow stuff like this. It's not hard to implement at any rate, the only issue is avoiding clipping with the different models which takes a lot of time and effort to do.

I'm not expecting to see it, though I would like to.

In actually would love 3 but 4 would be even better. Because people would have those kind of layers - cloth, mail, plate armor, cloak.

But I picked three because its a game and its quite enough.
But yeah 5......theres a place where you draw the line.

Almost what he said...

I basically want Morrowind's clothing system, but they can keep their insane amount of skills. [snip]

1) Underclothes
2) Thermals (you're in Skyrim, it gets cold)
3) Shirt and trousers/ regular clothes, whatever they are
4) Arming doublet
5) Chain armour, coif
6) Plate armour, helmet, boots, gauntlets
7) Overwear like a tabard or decorative jacket
8) Outerwear like a wool cloak or duster-like overcoat
9) Accessories like scarf, belt, gloves

I don't know if anyone wore chain under plate, historically, so maybe streamline those. Also, Overwear and Outerwear could be streamlined, but I think that a cloak and tabard are different enough.

For regular clothing:

1) Underclothes
2) Thermals
3) Shirt and trousers
4) Sweater/ vest
5) Jacket
6) Overcoat
7) Cloak or duster-like overcoat

So regular clothing is basically like today's regular winter clothing plus a cloak/ cape thingy.

As you can see, 4 is not enough. I demand 9, 8, or 1. Nothing in between will do.
