Official TES V Speculation Thread #86

Post » Fri Jul 23, 2010 3:36 am

It's probably best that I handle this, the rest will just reply with undue amounts of snark and sarcasm :P

We've been discussing this a while - most things that have been out more than a day have already been discussed at great length. Currently, though, we're looking at the fact that Game Informer just had a 4-page spread entitled 'Encrypting the Elder Scrolls', which sounds quite promising for a future announcement.

The link to the original article:

http://www.eurogamer.dk/articles/2010-11-22-the-elder-scrolls-v-paa-vej

To bring you up to speed on what we talked about:

How 'direct sequel' is a mistranslation/doesn't mean it follows on from Oblivion;
How unreliable the source seems (although it does come from EG, which makes it more credible);
How unlikely it is that Bethesda planned this.

So yeah. Welcome to the forums, and do not anger Antibody :P

ok i can clearly see that you have already ruled it out thanks anyways i know that im addressing the
ministry of the elder scrolls series but you got to stick some hope somewhere in all that regulation :)

We generally all do have hope, regulation is needed to lessen confusion and keep those hopes from becoming runaway party trains :biggrin:

Make that "anybody".
We are all a bit stressed at this moment , i think.
I can't help thinking what i'm going to do after the game is announced. I mean, ok, what if TESV would be announced at the VGA's, and the feb. issue of GI would actually be what we all are hoping for.......... Then what.
The wait for the game to actually be in the shops will be agonizing. :banghead:

The day the game is announced, I may lose my mind. My freinds will think I am a freak....well they already do....but they will think I am a bigger one.

hey man if not the VGAs, which seems like a good place to do so, they should do so at E^3 2011. I mean this game has been talked about for so long it has to happen.

Yup, would also rule out HL2: ep3...and Portal 2...which I am GREATLY anticipating for playing in February. My wife wants to play co-op with me so she can make me fall into some spikes or something and laugh...Some caring woman she is, haha

Portal 2 already had a cover... it's also been delayed to http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/18/portal-2-delayed-until-april-18-2011/. Sorry. :sad:

I find this part is the best part of all, ah, the memories of waiting4oblivion.com, over-anolysing every screenshot, arguing over every tidbit of news over features and scanning every frame of every video released. much of the fun comes post-announcement I can promise you that!

In the meantime, try out nehrim if you haven't (www.nehrim.de/DataEV.html), great german mod with english text that's deffinately worth a look at. The fact that the professionnal voice acting is German turned me off at first too, but if you don't mind a bit of reading it's an awesome way to pass the time until it's released.

I remember when Portal 2 got a cover. Pretty awesome stuff, it was.

But I just don't understand why DNF would seem like a good idea for a cover for GI. The PC Gamer cover was Duke Nukem...when? Two months ago? It's not like it would be anything new, or that anyone would care.

Duke Nukem Forever was the cover of PC gamer in Nov 1997... but i'm not sure that's relevant here...

Has anyone posted some excerts from that article anywhere. I have looked around but have not seen any around and I would love to get a better idea of what is in it.
Was there any info indicating that a return to any of those places may be in the works or any unusual mention of anouther provence that could point to a location for the next game

Well, there is a http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?p=2140123 cover for PC Gamer. I saw the scan before it was removed, and it's definitely legitimate. With that cover, I can't really see any chance of the next GI cover being DNF.

Gah, scroll up when you open the link.

Not really, just some vague reference to the Blades and a Dragon Lord... it was a really bad article, really. I'm not entirely sure what all the fuss was about :shrug:

EDIT: Sorry, I totally misunderstood you there :P It was just a bunch of quotes from Bethesda employees, from what I've heard.

Which almost make the announcement more likely :D

Also, if that's true, Tissue Box, then that means that a DNF cover is really unlikely. And we all know what that means...

Spoiler
A Dragon Age Spinoff!

The two pages I saw had pretty generic quotes that weren't worth posting here. However, VeryEvilDudeOfDarkness just informed me that there are in fact 2 more pages he didn't send me. I don't know what's in those last two pages yet but I'm rather worried they're going to turn my good feeling about it being so random into a slightly less good one...

The to pages as I told you do not have the text, but as soon as I can I'll scan them in..of course I won't post them here.
