A little Outrageous

Post » Wed Jul 28, 2010 9:49 am

i was at gamestop the other day planning on buying another copy of oblivion because my old copy is broken.

turns out, they are charging 39.99 USD for a copy of it now! it seems the price was jacked up almost triple of what it used to be. the GOTY edition was 45.99 USD too.

Now oblivion is a good game, but there was a BRAND NEW copy of Fallout New Vegas there for the same price as a USED copy of a game from 2006.

I now officially hate gamestop

360/PS3/PC?

On amazon.com a new copy of the GotY edition on 360 and PS3 is $29.99.

Must be your specific store. GOTY Oblivion in most stores I've been in has been $30 since late 2008.

Man that's a rip off. The game should be 20 for the regular and 30 for the GOTY but I guess somebody has to make money.

it was the 360 version, and the price used to be like 18 dollars for the GOTY edition.

(funny story, i gave my PS3 copy to a friend and he got addicted to it, everyday he talks about it :D )

The Oblivion GOTY editions I saw have all been $30 new, used they were $25.

Maybe your local Gamestop is about to go out of business

If I understand correctly, Gamestop is the GAME of the US: the best place to go for preorder bonuses, but otherwise ridiculously overpriced. Go on eBay and buy a used copy of the game. You will save yourself a lot of money if you make it a habit.

I bought my Oblivion GOTY (on PC) in late 2008 for about $19.99 at Best Buy. Though on Xbox360 when I bought it originally when it came out, it was obviously $60. But I dont see why they would be charging that much for it now. Possibly hype for Skyrim is causing an influx of Oblivion sales?

I always buy used games. I don't buy online for paranoid reasons of course and do this for the same reasons for going into a book store.

I love nerd rage game buyers, they buy a game and think "OMG why did I buy this, so not like the old one!?". Thats why I always go into the store 2 or 3 days later to see if their are any used copies for a new game, they save me a few 10 dollars or so :hehe:.

Okay, if you ever, ever have problems with unfair prices in stores, simply bust in the store wielding a longsword and point it directly at the throat of the store manager whilst yelling "Stop right there criminal scum!"

If that doesn't give you some sort of reaction, I don't know what will.

I got my copy of the GOTY version for $20 about a month ago at Gamestop for PC

I hate it when my spree has come to an end. Kills my mood the rest of the day. :sadvaultboy:

Oblivioun will sell at that price. Why? There are practically no used copies of it, and it's still in demand. I can pick up Far Cry 2, Resident Evil 5 and any Fifa game before the latest one for €5 each because copies are being traded in every day. Supply and demand.

Xbox Morrowind goes for horrific prices as well. PC has more recent copies made in 2006, so they are much cheaper. Fallout 3 I paid £2.98 for the other day.
