Is This Patch Some Sort Of Joke

Post » Sun Aug 01, 2010 6:55 pm

After patiently waiting to be able to play this game as i paid to, i have downloaded the patch and gone back to a save from early on, only to be greeted by a vendor who now has put up the price of Anti Material Rifles by almost 300%. Am i to believe the current economic crisis has spread to virtual worlds now or is this some act of sabotage by a dev team member. Shame on you once again.

Now given up 3 freezes in 15 minutes, i mean what is the point in ever expecting a working game, it is flawed right from its rotten core.

Game freezing isn't doing anything to your xbox.

Where did this ridiculous idea come from?

so your telling me that when the game freezes, locks up and you cant do anything with it and i have to manually turn the 360 off that its not bad for it? especially when its over and over again like with this game? seriously? how stupid do you think ppl are?

There's no need to be so [censored] hostile. I've had my 360 for 5 years and I've had to manually restart a LOT because of a lot of different games, but my 360 still works perfectly. The thing isn't made of glass, the only problem I've ever heard of anyone having is the RRoD, which has nothing to do with anything the user does.

Turning the 360 on and off puts wear and tear on the console. So you've had your 360 for 5 years, yeah so you are lucky. 360s break very easily. I am on my 3rd xbox in 4 years and I treat everything I own with extreme care, almost OCD-like. Every game I own is complete and in perfect condition. Anytime your Xbox hard drive or dvd-rom drive can take a Sh*t! Whether you treat it good or not. My 2nd xbox got so loud with the dvd-rom drive I had to replace it before it even broke.

As an electronic engineer I can assure you that as long as you are restarting xBox by pressing big round button instead of yanking the power cable, nothing bad happens to the console. Restart is then performed as the "soft reset", under full control of electronics. You can even see it if you press the button shortly - it sometimes takes few seconds before the box reboots.
If you do it pulling the power cable then this is never healthy to any electronic equipment. It might potentially lead to problems, although it is not a given either.

lol i think this patch was a joke, my arms still go up and down and thats the most common glitch..and they still didn't fix it, guess we have to wait for the third patch to fix everything they forgot plus the bugs with the dlc. I swear skyrim is gonna be my last game from them, if they do the same crap like this one, oblivion had bugs, yes ....but it was rare, this game has bugs happening every five minutes and the most common one with my arms going up and down is still going on. bethesda i hope your reading this cause if this keeps going on with all your games, i'am done plain and simple, i rather be playing than complaining about a game that i bought 2 months ago and it still doesn't work. like they said fool me once ,shame on you....fool me twice ,shame on me

And you are highly qualified to make this determination because... you bought a box and game? And are ignorant enough to not have a clue what happened?

Hurrah, some people who actually know what they are talking about exist here - I feared I was alone.

Xbox freezing does nothing to the console, that is a SOFTWARE issue, not a hardware one.

RROD etc is caused by poor manufacturing processes and the switch to ROHS solders which are less flexible, anyone who thinks different should google about how the military are exempt and can still use leaded solder as its more reliable.

Hey right now I can get back on the strip so I'm happy so far. Not sure about the rest of the problems so far. Did they give out experience ponits too with the patch. I just noticed my old save where I could not get into the strip I gain 110 exp. Then on the new game I restarted I got 110 exp as soon as I loaded the game.

Have you experienced this issue? If you dont play a game based on other peoples negative feedback, you will never play a game ever again. Every game has issues. Just because it freezes for one, doesnt mean it will for everyone. Just try it. I know mates who have played for hours without any issues

What I've come to understand is that turning your system on and off constantly can still hurt it though, right? Like if you turn it off and on 15 times or more in a short period of time, isn't that somewhat harmful? That seems to be what happened to some people who claim their consoles broke, because they can't stand to put a game down for 30 minutes. Like hitting your hand with a brick until you get the result you want.

you folks can blindly follow bethesda/obsidian all you want and make all the rationalizations you want for how its ok to try to play a broken game..not me..they have done absolutely zero to earn my trust or loyalty..not enough to ruin my system over it..

If you press the round button to restart it you are not turning it off, but just rebooting the system. So this is not like removing and reapplying the power, just jump to the restart address and sending reset signal to subsystems.

Happened to me too. Maybe boys of Obsidian wanted to thank us with some extra exp because we waited so patiently this patch? :P
