Magic took a back seat, the whole saga was a vehicle for Tolkein to convey his awesome world to us imo, I hope you mean that you don't like Feist/Dragonlance in TES not in general
I actually have about ten of Fiest's novels (most were gifts); I liked them too, but I'm more of a fan of Conan or even "The Black Company" style worlds & stories. (Not to say that I like those kinds exclusively... just more often.) In TES... I honestly don't like the classless nature, and that everyone has spellcraft ~though I understand that its core design, and accept it.
Low Fantasy. Rare magic, logical world, no larger-than-life heroes without damn good explanation for their larger-than-lifeness.
