Finished Fan-Fics in documents

Post » Mon Aug 09, 2010 1:28 pm

I really enjoy reading some of these role plays and fan-fics. However, most of them never seem to finish and forum threads aren't the best way to read them.

I'm not trying to tell the writers to do better (they are better than anything I could come up with), but I was just wondering if there are any finished well-written fan fics written by the posters. What are some of the best ones? Is there a way to search for some on these forums?

As I said I am a huge fan of the series and enjoy reading what the posters come up with.

Some of us, myself included, use blogs to store our fics. Mine is stored at Live Journal, and each chapter/entry, has its own page with links at the bottom (Previous Entry/Next Entry) to make it almost seem as though you are flipping through the pages of a book. There is a space for readers to leave comments, but it's set up in a way that reader-comments don't break up the chapters. Plus Live Journal allows for images to be posted as well. I love adding staged screen-shots to each of my chapters. They're fun to do plus I think my readers like being able to see the events and people that my character is describing.

Personally, I'd never post my fic on a forum (nothing at all against those who do, by the way). It's just that my fic has become epic length, and I like having complete control over what the page looks like.

If you decide to drop by my blog, check out the profile page. Toward the bottom there are links to Elder Scrolls communities and other users who have fan-fic blogs.

Thats completely understandable what you are saying, I have only just like got into the fan fiction stage, I am now working on a novel based within Skyrim. It will carry the journey of a fighters guild member who defected to an assassins cult and hes set to an iconic figure within their world 'The king of the nords' basically. I have some very good ideas and if you look at my fan fictions in the above post I made as you can tell they are short and to the point.

It's a shame that the fan fiction board here isn't as... looked after, as some other fan-fiction boards on other forums I've visited are.

At the very least, the stories, many of which are very good, deserve a compendium so people do not need to always search for a certain story. After a while that can become very tiring.

I was going to link you what might have been the only legitimate completed fan-fic on these boards ever. It was by the member Alexander, and I believe it was titled "Morrowind". I had never read it but I'm quite sure it was actually finished unlike the so many half-completed carcasses of stories that remain (mine included).

EDIT: Ahhh, I believe this one by Rumpleteasza is completed as well, and even comes with a down loadable version on fanfiction.net I believe.

I have done 2 chapters in my story and it is coming along quite nicely, it will take its time to finish completely but it will get there.

Further digging led me to discover BSparrows fic has been eaten as well! :( It wasn't finished but was certainly worth a read.

AFAIK, the linked story below is finished with a sequel being written ATM.

There are plenty of decently long but unfinished fics as well, like FC4's fic on the Shivering Isles (if it hasn't been eaten), Solidor's fic on his vampire character and I believe Darkom has a decently long piece here as well.

That's correct - though annoyingly, the forum move screwed up a lot of the punctuation. You can also find both stories at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4726721/1/The_Neveragaine.

Thanks so much for the recc, BladeMaster! Like Helena said, a lot of old threads are nigh unreadable now due to screwed-up punctuation and, for some reason, italics. Closed threads are also unable to be updated, and I've reworked my story quite a bit since then, so the best version is always on fanfiction.net. If people find it useful, though, I might also upload the word document and link it on my ff.net profile.

I'm a fan of Alexander's Morrowind too, but fortunately it's not lost to the world - you can find it on http://chorrol.com/fiction_a_n.html, although I'm not sure when the site was last updated so it might not be the latest version. I know the version of mine up there is a very early one, at least. You'll probably find lots of stories archived there that have disappeared from the forums, though, so it's a good go-to if you're missing something.

Heh, I went through an embarrassing amount of restarts since the fic was based what was going on in my game and the computer I was using at the time did not like Morrowind at all. That was two computers ago and now my game, and thus the fic, is far more stable that it was when I first started. Plus the main character has evolved into a more "shades of gray" personality which I find much more interesting to write about.

I know it's a little cheap to ask maybe, but I would appreciate the same done to mine. I haven't done any proper writing in an age or so so I'm quite worried that my latest post doesn't quite match the others. D=

I rather enjoyed your story so far, my chapters will start off small and get bigger and more in depth im working on chapter 2 at the moment and it is a complete stretch further than the brief first one :)
Heres the link to my upcoming novel :)

I have a full length novel here in a very easy to read font, inspired by the works of Emma and Grumpy, Neoptolemus, the LGNPC team, and many other personalities from the modders here:

http://capolan.tripod.com/teslokkennovel

There is also a fledgling website devoted to the works I have done to flesh out some of the aspects of Morrowind and mod characters that I have enjoyed greatly:

http://capolan.tripod.com/tescustoms/

Just started writing the Child of Light, Child of Darkness which picks up 9 months after the end of my first novel. I prefer to keep histories and timeframes close since many authors I have read like to fast forward in time great leaps.
