If you want to know what "hardcoe" literally means, it means "Intense"
So "hardcoe Mode" = "Intense Mode"

Edit: So just because hardcoe meant perma-death in D2 and such doesn't mean it's perma-death everywhere it's hardcoe. It just mean it's more intense

This. Did you not realize that hardcoe is a real word? Because it can be used to describe many things. Terms haven't changed, it's just that it has been used to describe "dead is dead" (more tedious than difficult, IMO) mode for some games. There can be a hardcoe mode for a different game than Fallout that serves different functions as well.

I say "hardcoe" all the time. Several times per day! People think less of me for it!

Sometimes I abbreviate it - "H-core dude!" - to be even more obnoxious. True story. :sadvaultboy:

This may have been said in a different thread or even this one but if this "hardcoe" mode doesnt make the combat more realistic (shooting a guy with 20 rounds of the LMG, like in the trailer, and he doesnt die until the NCR storm in which i consider "not realistic") then i will never play on harcore.

"Over 2000 Talk-to-able characters that can be killed and stay dead except one" does anyone know who this one lucky basterd is?

hardcoe mode does not affect weapon damage, it′s still the stats and numbers thing it was in Falout 3 (tho to some degree enemies are suposingly less bullet spunges then they where in Fallout 3)

as for the none killable, my theory is that it′s the big guy who runs Vegas, there have been hints
Spoiler
that he is a super computer
and thus naturally ya can′t kill by blasting him with ya gun.

For the op I have played you Idea of hardcoe games though mostly as Mudds heh. And the answer is pretty simple if you want to do it your way you can only use one save and if you ever die just start over plain and simple hehe... Or l;eave the game on all the time aqnd never save.... Power outage heh means a freak heart attack. Though you know A Hang Them high achievemnet for never having to reload might be neat if the could swing a counter for it.

My two cents err caps

"hardcoe" will require more patience and planning and thus a larger commitment from the player. For "hardcoe gamers" who really want to get into the game world. Thats all. That’s why it’s called hardcoe.

Sounds cool to me.

To me, it...

#1- Forces you to actually be careful in the Wastes. hardcoe mode means death=death. You die. Game over. Your fault you weren't adequatly prepared for the fight.

#2- Forces you to actually care for the avatar. Instead of letting him jump off cliffs knowing you can just shove stimpacks into him to rejuvinate immediatly, take the long cautious path down.

#3- Forces you to think strategically. Why are you going to fight Super Mutants with a baseball bat in nothing but underpants?

I have been reading about 10 pages, but I gave up once I didn't understand what people were talking about. I am guessing it's something about eating or sleeping, but that makes no sence to me. How is that hard core? So I gave up after reading and reading and nothing making any sence. Also I can't find the search function ever since they went to the new forums.
HC mode is basically how it should have been planned from the start (and possibly was). It won't mean much to a veteran player.

OH MY. Thank you. I have never noticed the search up there. I have always seen my name but I never noticed the search function up there. I just found out today how to put my avatar back. Thanks for letting me know, I didn't know that.
:foodndrink: I didn't notice it until just now either

Its the same as with stickies; after a week, you stop seeing it at all (if you ever did).

i think one of the reasons they called it hardcoe mode is that its good for marketing, when people see hardcoe there like( oh it has hardcoe its gonna be cooool) and maybe the reason they didnt call it survival mode is that there is a skill SURVIVAL and that might make some people confused, and saying hardcoe mode sounds better than saying real life mode....

This OP. Thats why its called hardcoe mode. The HC mode your thinkin it is can simply be done by yourself by not saving. To me HC mode is survival mode, which to me is great. its a new mode that is unique to atleast the console games as far as i kno

What is everyones problem with calling it harcore mode. I believe it fits, because what other game do you have that makes you need to eat, drink, sleep and take care of yourself without healing fully in 10 seconds (COD)? I dont think anyone really understands how hard this can be, becuase carrying limited ammo, trying to kill multiple super mutants, not being able to heal instantly would be very difficult. I imagine that when you get to higher levels, enemies would become harder. Imagine trying to fight several super mutants with some overlords in F3 if you could do it in hardcoe? It would be really hard. then imagine doing that for a whole game....
