Paying for support

Post » Mon Aug 16, 2010 7:02 pm

Wouldn't it be cool if you could hire your faction members to follow you around for a while and help you kill things. for example, if I joined the warriors guild i could have 2/3 warriors follow me and attack anything i attack, or the DB and they will help you kill things.
Plus the high level they are, the more it would cost for them to follow you.

[censored] you scared me, I thought this was asking to provide better customer support if you pay extra for it.

same here, phew, but anyway, I think a warrior wouldn't need pay to serve his leader, otherwise he'd find his career aprubtly over

Haha! Thats what I thought too! I would say that if you are a high ranking official in the guild then they should not need to be paid. But otherwise its a good idea.

Most people are going to say "Companions get in the way so no." I say yes. I want to be able to just pay some randomly generated mercenary to be a meat shield while I snipe with my bow. The only thing I think is that in Factions like the FG it should be based on your rank and difficulty how strong they are. You should be able to bring a guildmate on a mission for free.

Edit: Nice title btw. Clearly you get extra views by scaring people ****less.

I think in some cases yes, but only for a few. I'm thinking that in guilds and factions everyone's on the same side anyway, so wouldn't they be more willing to help you than someone who isn't a member? Unless they are high ranking like you mentioned. Maybe if you aren't a member of the guild/faction it would cost you to hire their services?

I think if you are a high ranking member of a guild you should be able to give any order to lower members, including telling them to follow/guard you or go somewhere.

I think you should be able to pay any fighters guild member to come along with you.

They are confident in their abilities and the better they are, the more money they cost to rent out on a daily basis. Maybe their disposition could play into their prices. Hired mercenaries would be a good way to balance the game out for people who focus on non-combat skills.

Todd said in an interview that they made it so you could have anyone follow you but it didn't work out, for obvious reasons. This hopefully gives you hope that you can have many followers, just not everyone

If they are in the same guild I don't think there should be a money exchange, maybe some other stuff like loot exchange or work favors.

However if you aren't part of the guild, than it would be cool if you could hire a fighter for support.

Yep.. same here, heart attack and rant abated ( for now. )

Mercs, yes some freelancer's or hired goons would be fun.
As TeS doe's not really do companions or followers in the RPG sense, this would be a fair compromise

The pole is biased, you need an option saying yes but without paying, because Why be in a faction if they dont help unless you pay them, why not just hire mercs and do whatever, this is ignoring the fact that factions usually earn you cool items, money, exp, and something to do.

Only if companions have some brains this time around and we can issue at least simple commands for them.
Otherwise it's a far better alternative to just use Conjuration.

Pay to have some faction members follow? I think not. For free maybe, but that's about it.

Sounds good, but there should be an option to make them walk ahead of you. The whole point is that they take damage instead of you, right?
