Tailoring

Post » Tue Aug 17, 2010 4:06 pm

Would you like "tailoring" to be in Skyrim? If so,how would you like to see it implemented?
I personally would like it to be in the game and would also like to become good at it,so my vote would be for it to be woven into the "smithing" skill through perks.
I would enjoy collecting different cloths and dyes and be able to make own clothing.Would be cool to make your own cloaks,hoods,etc.....and be able to choose the colours of them through dyes.I would like to be able to choose atleast 2 diffrent colours(dyes) for each article of clothing.Like a black cloak with gold trim.
Also tailoring as an odd job would just be another way of making money, which is always welcomed in my books.
I would accept tailoring even if an NPC handled it,but would atleast still want to be able to tell the NPC what I wanted made for me.(my black cloak with gold trim) For a price ofcourse.

Please let me know you what you think and what other ideas you have.

I'm still unsure how far they are going to take the forging aspect of smithing. I hope it is more than just being able to create the regular armor yourself but with better stats.

As for tailoring; at the very least I would like to be able to dye clothes. Being able to create custom clothing somehow would be really great for those of us who play on consoles. But again I don't know how far they could go with that.

I feel the exact same way.My hopes are not high,so I will not be dissapointed if tailoring is not in the game, but just like you I would atleast want to be able to dye my clothes. That would just add another element of customization and I think it would be alot of fun.
Tailoring is good for mage characters,so my fingers are crossed.Would love to make my own robe, hood, cloak etc....then "enchant" them.

Yeah, it would definitely bonus for a mage-esque character. Especially now that enchanting is a skill again. Plus I always wear hoods instead of helms so being able to dye or customize them would be great.

To me "smithing" and "enchanting" go hand and hand.I would not be surprised if the best armour in the game is armour you can create yourself,by finding the best resources to make it and then on top of that being able to enchant it.
This ofcourse would take100 in both skills and perked out as much as possible, but that it what I invision anyway.
If "tailoring" is in then the same thing would most likely apply.

Well, I like to do some things for myself, and tailoring would be one of them. However, I do not want to put it in with smithing, and have to use perks for it.

Tailoring could be fun, but it seems that we only get 50 perks, or so, and I will probably need them for other skills. Hopefully, some of the fun things we can create in the game will not require use of our perk allotment. My perk options are going to be used carefully. However, if it can be shown that a high rank in tailoring will somehow help destroy evil dragons, then bring it on, lol.

LOL,I would use a perk or two on tailoring if it meant being able to make the best clothing in the game, but otherwise I would not.I agree with you that perks need to be used wisely and I will be cautious myself when choosing perks.

Amen to that.

I recently came up for a pretty dynamic creation system for clothing. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1160853-custom-clothing-and-armor/page__p__17035577__fromsearch__1#entry17035577

No. I think that tailoring would be useless in a videogame, because the clothes will always fit your character perfectly. With the whole point of tailoring being to make your clothes fit perfectly... yeah.

And if you want to make your own clothes-- seriously seems random and minimally useful. If you really want to make your character look better, dress them up in layers. Or don't, because it's a [censored] game, and the way your character looks is no where near as important as actual fun gameplay. Cheezuz.

I think thiefs and mages need to look the part so if tailoring would help your mage character become much more powerfull without having to where armor which is obsurd im all for it.If tailoring is not in the game i still hope that its set up so thiefs are more powerfull in thief outfits and same with mages.I love the armor in ES but it should be for warriors and warrior/thief or warrior/mage or warrior/thief/mage.No way a pure mage or thief should be better off wearing armor.

LOL,snip. Tailoring can be usefull and at the very least would be great for customizing the look of your character.Someone else already mentioned they would like to be able to make "cloth armor" which is great for mage characters, but you already knew that. :shakehead:
