Character Creation Poll

I'll just let the Polls speak for themselves and let the chips fall where they may. Hahahaha. I'm so curious about your thoughts! Thanks.

Wow, certainly taking some things to the extremes. I don't really know how I feel about this. Some things are okay--scars that cause problems, having a deep phobia of a specific type of creature, and more--those types of things sound really cool. Things like having one arm or one leg is kind of extreme in my opinion. It would alter gameplay SEVERELY to the point that it would be too much work and would make the game a little too gimmick-y, if that makes sense. I wouldn't want an over-emphasis on making some really messed up character when things like that aren't typically seen in the TES universe.

It would be cool to have some minor 'background' option that can dictate certain aspects of the game, but I think it should take a backseat to any other aspect of the game and should be little more of a consequence than picking a birthsign and a class.

It's certainly a very unique idea! That's what I like to see!

Hahaha, good one! Hahaha.

But unfortunately for me, no. Would have liked to, because my friend told me all about it for over a year, but I was still in love with my Amiga which I'd spent years learning how to use, programming it using BliztBasic, gaming on it and such. AND the PC at that time couldn't yet match what it was doing. So.... I didn't make the switch to a PC until Daggerfall was already but a treasured memory. But that IS why I bought Morrowind, to make up for missing Daggerfall. Morrowind was my first cool PC game and I had the best graphics card, but I was surprised the game couldn't use it at all, it was running like 9 FPS because I liked all the options on.

Haha... them were the days!

Daggerfall is free now from Bethesda. You just need DosBox, which can be a pain. I would like minor trade offs but nothing this major. I thought this was going to be about character looks, and I had a very nice anecdote about a beauty pack I used in Oblivion that had tons of new hairstyles and Eyes. I was always Blind in one eye or both lol

In reference to your signature, not that quote, some ancient soldiers like those from Rome had special full-body shields used to form a phalanx which was essentially a sheilded group of men in a bowling-pin configuration that would press forward safe from arrows and spears, allowing the soldiers behind them to get into the thick of battle. So while two shields seems impossible, its not when you consider the size of the shield and that it required two hands to hold it properly.

In regards to your quote above, would you have played that same character if they made you somehow suffer for it to do so? I guess that's my point with the thread ...

I did not vote because I'm unsure as to which I'd like more, the ability to have disadvantages for some advantages (IIRC like in Daggerfall?) or the absence of such a system. I'm really hoping for a hardcoe mode, I didn't play the hardcoe mode in FONV because I didn't like the Fallout universe in the same manner as I like TES, and so I didn't want extra trouble to give me more entertainment in a game that didn't get me much entertainment in the first place (Excluding VATS and perks, love 'em!).

So, if there is a hardcoe mode, I'd like the option to give myself an advantage at the expense of a disadvantage, i.e. Increased expertise with Fire-based attacks comes at the cost of taking extra Fire-based damage/horrible burn mark somewhere on my face, chest, arms, and/or hands. Velorien's idea of a "background option" would be nice, but it would feel like birthsigns if you had to choose (On that note, are birthsigns even going to be in the game?). Even if there wasn't a hardcoe mode, I'd still like if the option existed. The possibly to gain new and special perks (Or "feats, abilities, etc.", if you dislike the word "perks"), increased starting stats, more starting money, etc. at the expense of some disadvantage during Character Creation would be a welcome addition, in my opinion.

Hahah sorry, but majority of poll options are very silly and many don't even make any sense.

I somewhat agree with this, but nothing so extreme, or if it IS that extreme, it can be turned off. For example:

How Would You Feel About Trading Flaws For Talents (Extra Abilities)? For example, you are born deaf (meaning you can't hear the ingame dialogue or voices) but have increased sight (see in dark, notice secret passageways innately) as a result?

This just ruins the imersion to me. I don't want to have to lip read in a game if I can avoid it. However, I WOULD be alright with something like your "Scar across the face SLIGHTLY reduces disposition." example. You know, something that could be over come with a litle work.

Aye. Kind of crosses that line where immersion begins to interfere with, rather than enhance, fun.

Was about to vote, then realized I couldn't because there's no accompanying option for "Partially" that doesn't contradict it by accepting some in-game downside that "Partially" is a vote against, sooooo....
