Every animal including us crouches when they sneak or prowl. You are able to test the ground before setting your foot on a stick for example. Also, aim is better for archery.

I thought standing tall and rigid as possible was best for aiming in archery, crouching would be really awkward. Then again, I have an imagination and Bethesda doesn't have to spell
everythig out or hold my hand for me to know how to play a video game.

What is next? People are going to complain that we stand too many times when we eat, and not enough people are sitting down when they eat or drink?

Bring back the "exaggerated tip-toe" sneak animation! :)

Does that mean we can have cloaks you pull up with your arm to cover your face, and grenades with fuses sticking out and "BOMB" written on the side?

so how else do you suggest it shows that you are sneaking? usually when someone is sneaking you try to go down low. It would be pretty lame if all you did was stand when you went into sneak mode. seriously think about it. my opinion. nothing more.

It's more to make it visible that the character is sneaking, but yes the animation could be better. And yes heavy armor should give penalty to sneak.

Agreed. Even though I think animation is done decently enough in Oblivion (I play in 1st person anyway). I'd add glass armor to sneaking penalty. It's just too shiny. Either that or make glass armor less of a flashy,bling-bling style and more like ...not shiny.
