Guars are a native species of Vvardenfell. The Guar is like its cousins nomadic, it is said to be born in the grasslands or someplace of similar climate and raised there for a time untill it is old enough to venture out accross vvardenfell to graze with its herd and or search for a mate. Although It is related to The Kagouti and Alit the guar is unique in that it is an omnivore. It survives on a diet of plants and insects but if presented the oportunity it will hunt small game like fish and other smaller lizards.

It is generally a docile creature, which is the reason it is loved by the natives. The Dunmer raise them as guardians, beasts of burden and occasionally food and clothing when the animal becomes an age where death is a mercy. guar leather is said to be durable, comfortable and light weight, while the meat is said to be savory as beef (a rarity in tamriel, guar serves as a good substitute) Assumed that because they are usually killed and skinned AFTER they have lived a long life, giving reason for the durability of the skin and the tenderness of the meat, long years give the skin strength while the muscle becomes weak.

Though many have been domesticated most are wild, and like to keep to themselves but do not mind the ocasional traveler. It has been witnessed both in the wild and on the farms that the guar is a highly inteligent oportunistic species that understands the benefits of being with man and mer , they feel affection for us and trust in our care for food and shelter. they also show significant forms of affection for the beast races, but are warry of orcs...none know why but suspect abuses are possibly remembered from long ago durring the battle of red mountain. As said they are very inteligent and the memory may be hereditary. The Orcs who reside in Vvardenfell make great strides in gaining the acceptance of the creatures, for they remember not too long ago THEY were treated as beasts.

Though it is a rarity guars have been known to venture beyond the island and accross the sea of ghosts. They have been seen as many as 12 in a pack each with a glowing mushroom in its mouth heading to the western shores of morrowind and beyond. They have been spotted inland as far as winterhold going further and further west as if a flaming whip were on their heels. some suspect this migration as a threat and a warning to the people of vvardenfell as this migration continues each year with shrinking numbers of Guar. Experts assume that in as little as 5 years there will not be a single Guar on the island, and that counts the domesticated who sneak off in the night to follow the herd. Many see it as an omen, and even vivec himself has taken notice. The Isle of vvardenfell may soon suffer a fate that only the wild spirit can know.

Spoiler
the title of the op is a joke, if you ever saw hitchhikers guide to the galaxy you would get it.
