Radiation stays around for many years in extremely high levels. She died, undoubtedly.

Actually, though I have not played the games in the Fallout series, I am familiar with how nuclear war works in real life. And if you are successfully shielded for a good thirty days (the average dangerous portion of the half-life), and take potassium iodide to protect your thyroid, you wouldn't have much problem. So long as there are no more nuclear explosions. In which case the aforementioned precautions would have to be re-instated.

really say no to nuke weapons, thank god.

Actually it details in the scriptures, how god is going to nuke the 'abominable things of the earth' and it also details how the saints are to survive it.
