Bosmer Abilities

Post » Thu Aug 26, 2010 5:46 pm

Hi there, I was curious as to whether or not the Bosmer possessed the ability to understand animals? Their beast tongue, as I already know, allows animals to understand them, but is it more than just one-way communication?

Thanks, sorry if this seems like a silly question.

As far as I know it has never been described in any precise terms. But my personal opinion is that it's two ways. Unfortunately most animals won't have much to tell (things like i'l hungry, i'm hurt, they went that way...). And since most animal can't count, you won't be able to get much usefull information out of them.

Yeah, I checked on uesp before I posted this topic and it didn't give much information. I imagine necromancers and their minions work the same way, where it depends on the intelligence of the minion to give a certain quality of information.

It would probably be better for telling animals what to do, but as far as understanding them, I doubt they understand our sense of urgency in any matter. They seem to have obtained this in the Green Pact, but other than that there is very little lore on natural greater powers.

"What? Who's this Dagon guy, and why should I tell you where the guys in strawberry colored fur went? Get me some nice grass and we might talk."

Seriously, I doubt they'd be able to talk beyond "Look out!", "Food!", and "I'll crash heads with you to display dominance for my doe friend, just play along."

But as far as it goes, it has the same effect as command creature. Which seems to be a one way deal in which they simply protect you like a summon or ally.

It probably works mostly by magic.

I think they just threw it in there as a game mechanic, they must have been having a hard time thinking things up for racial abilities. Anyone remember it being mentioned in a book or anything?

I can just imagine that, sitting around coming up with ideas and then The Wild Thornberrys comes on the TV, and so became the wood elf.
