Mannimarco the king, and mannimarco the god.

I really hope they intended the pansy elf to be a replacement or some sort of impostor. The KoW in Daggerfall was a [censored] with glowing eyes surrounded but ancient liches and vampires, and now he's this in oblivion?

ORRRRR it could just be game mechanics made, so that the little kids would not throw a hissy fit when they had a real boss fight in Oblivion... seriously.

There was like, NO boss fight at all in that game, compared to the Morrowind Dagoth Ur foght. The closest you would get to that, is some dude making a little fancy speech, whacking you with his weapon a few times before dying.

well mannimarco has also had many followers. even N'Gasta from Redguard the game was his follower and N'Gasta was a powerful sload necromancer back in the end of the second era and he even followed the king of worms. mannimarco granted N'Gasta stros m'kai as his ground for necromancy. quote from N'Gasta from redguard "Do not speak ill, mortal, or this one's liege-lord, the king of worms, for his grace grants these shores as this one's bountiful hunting grounds." anyways shows that there are powerful necromancers that serve him he should have been more powerful. anyways how old is the king of worms?

About as old as Galerion The Mystic, possibly older, since they were both students of the Psijic Order. Now, for an exact date, I can't give, but the book "Galerion the Mystic" notes that Galerion was born "during the early bloody years of the Second Era." I can only assume he was born around a decade after the second era was announced so...I'd say 1319 years old, assuming this goes from 2E10 to 3E433. Of course, I'm throwing a bunch of educated guesses, but that's all I can really find.

It seems to me more likely that a "split" happened- the Jills can not destroy a God, so in order to fix it, they separated it into two things- Mannimarco the King of Worms, and The Revenant.

Perhaps in order to make the new God the God of Undeath, they had to make Mannimarco a mortal, leaving his undeath in the Revenant?

I'm completely conjecturing, here.

He's still much weaker as a mortal in Oblivion than as a mortal in Daggerfall...maybe part of his power was drawn off of him in the creation of a divine King of Worms during the Warp in the West?

As old as this quote is, as a person who has actually played Daggerfall, I feel the need to point out that the King of Worm's level of personal combat power is totally unknown in Daggerfall. Certainly, it is implied that he has influence everywhere, enough to, in terms of game mechanics, give the PC a whopping +100 in reputation points should he hand the Totem and Mantella over to the King of Worms. But this, and personal ass-kicking abilities, are two completely different things. The only thing we ever see is a red robe concealing a face in shadow, with glowing eyes peering from under the hood. And zombie messengers.

TRAVEN killed Mannimarco in Oblivion. If you think you did, then you're just as deluded as the mages of the guild that hold your character to be Traven's successor. :P

OK, so maybe Traven had some help, but the point is, Mannimarco is NOT a pushover without Traven's soul with you.

Is it even possible to face him before this quest line opens the fight up? But yes, I agree that without Traven's help, the KoW "would" be much scarier.

That's interesting. Could it be that what the Jills did was to sever his connection with 'his' moon in some way and that in Oblivion he was attempting to reinstate that connnection?

Gotta feel sorry fo rthe guy - every time he is ready to strut his stuff he meets up with 'the player'.

Actually, Oblivion is the only time the King of Worms fought "The Player." In Daggerfall, "The Player" was instrumental to his plans... indeed, The Player actually handed over the Mantella, in one of the possibilities that composed the metaevent we call the Warp.
