New FCOM install issues

Just finish my 12 hour reinstall of Oblivion following the Stable FCOM guide with my own modifications, and on my first loadup, the game does the good ol' "freeze during the loading screen". Can anyone identify problems with the load order? I'm sure theres probably something in there I shouldn't have active or something I'm missing.

Oh wow, I post my load order and already notice I carelessly missed a lot of things. Like having all the versions of Attack and Hide enabled..

EDIT 2:

I got rid of two of the attack and hide versions, disabled FCOM_COBL (I was told before that it just adds a doubling effect because I already have OOO+MMM versions), and rebuilt the bashed patch. It loads, but when I start a new game it crashes during the loading screen for that.

So you can see the intro film but it crashes when the prison cell is loading? Make sure you have the complete resources for OOO installed and that the MMM.bsa is renamed correctly.

Can't see an obvious culprit when browsing through your rather huge load order - which leads me to my old tip to install FCOM incrementally. It's quite hard to diagnose something when starting out with like 150 mods. Start a new game with a patched Oblivion and check that it runs. Load with OOO and check. Load with the core FCOM setup and check. Then add basically a mod at a time while checking for issues/stability.

Also, you have all three varieties of "attack and hide" - choose one, I believe. That's the only thing I see straight away, but what you might want to do is run the most recent version of BOSS, with the most recent masterlist.txt, from within the most recent version of Wrye Bash, then take note of what the bosslog.txt tells you, do whatever is required (if anything), rebuild the Bashed Patch properly, and (if necessary) manually deactivate those mods that should be.

And done! :)

Oh, I forgot to mention. The intro film when starting a new game doesn't play either. I select new game, it goes to a loading screen, then crashes.

I fixed the attack and hide problem earlier after I posted, I'm not sure how I missed that at first. And yes, I have been using BOSS to sort, and then I went through and looked at the suggestions and ended up deleting a lot of useless things I didn't need.



EDIT:

It appears to be an INI problem actually. The game still does it with no mods loaded.

I deleted the .ini and generated a new one and discovered that when I load it in TweakOblivion, if I go to the profiles and uncheck a box, the box is automatically rechecked, as if I can't make changes to it. But I have permission to change it and what not. So I have no idea whats going on.

So still crashes? Try moving "menus" folder out of data folder and see if that helped.

I hate to bump here, I just woke up and I really wanna get my Oblivion going. You know how it is. :P

So, the problem is solved by moving the "menus" folder out of data folder. Which gets rid of Darnified UI. Which makes me guess Darnified UI is the problem.

Which I don't quite understand why that would be the problem.

The first line of mine that you quoted, but didn't respond to, might have been quite important. Just sayin'. :)

But glad to hear things are (were?) going better, regardless. I'll just say though, that with mods, it is always advisable to read the readmes, the threads, and any data that pop up (e.g., in the bosslog.txt file). And there's the Wrye Bash documentation, as well, for example. It seems there was quite a bit that was missed, glossed over, ignored, or possibly misread/misunderstood along the way there. With something like FCOM in particular, it really pays to read, and take your time, proceeding with care and patience. So much trouble can be avoided ahead of time.

Oh, my bad! I missed it. About things needing deactivated and what not? Yeah I figured there were things up there that I didn't need. I'm not really sure which ones though, I couldn't find a clear reference as to what I should keep activated.

And yeah, when I used to play a while back, around the time OOO was released, I kind of just always threw my mods in there and went with it but that never ended well. I always read the readme's now, but I guess I just went ahead and installed DarnUI without looking at anything since I've used it so many times before and never really had any problems.
