Oblivion won't work after installing Animated Window Lightin

Post » Tue Aug 31, 2010 5:40 pm

I've spent hours at this now, and I just cannot figure what in the world this mod did to my game. I installed OBSE most recent version and still the game won't work. It starts up goes to a black screen and shuts down. The thing that upsets me the most is that the game is an online download since it is off steam which means 4 day reinstall, and then I have to go back in an completely rewrite the EXE files again. I don't even know if I can save my current saves, nor all the mods I previously had downloaded. I really need help solving this problem. I used OBM to install it, like I have every other mod, and now my game is just failing. It saved over some original files I believe and now I just can't run the game. What did this mod do and how do I fix it?

The readme for OBSE tells you how to install it on a Steam version of the game. If you have any more questions probably good to ask in thier thread. Good luck!

Sorry don't have the Steam version to help you out, sounds like the file paths are screwed up and its not reading that obse is there. Make sure any mods that are obse dependant are uninstalled first then check your installation against the readme and see if oblivion starts for you, if not I'm sure the fine folks in the obse thread could help you more. Sorry I couldn't be of better help. Good luck.

It runs like the same original game. I uninstalled the files and the game still isn't working. I think it must of deleted a file when i downloaded the file and not replaced it.

Ok steam does not use the obse_loader.exe, that is the file obmm looks for. You can just drop the obse_loader.exe in your oblivion folder so the script in obmm will find it.

Also you cannot overwrite the original oblivion files, they are all in .bsa archives. Unless of course you make a .bsa and name it the same as an original, but yeah whatever thats not it.

If you have uninstalled all mods and it still is not working, you might wanna delete your oblivion.ini in C:\Users\Will\Documents\My Games\Oblivion change username in that address of course. Oblivion will make a new one with default settings when you start a new game.
Some mods might add there own .ini's and you would want to delete them too either from documents folder or actual oblivion or data folder.

So yeah don't worry about the core game files, no mods touch them.
