Uhhhh....

The devs said so.

Multiple times.

Over, and over, and over again.

Everywhere Brink has been mentioned.

Lots.

It's quite emphatically rammed down everyone's throats, actually (although they've said custom servers will let you show kills and deaths in each match, but they won't track it long-term)

Im ok with no K/D ratio stats in leaderboards, but I′m hoping for some sort of XP leaderboards so the people that help more the team will be rewarded.

XP Leaderboards would be fair

To be honest, I don't really care about KDR. I never play games for KDR anymore.
Helps that I go positive 2:1 as well but, meh.

Good, stat-whoring is the cancer of the gaming community.

Personally I don′t care, but in my opinion its a very good idea to get rid of leaderbords, because much exploits and cheating comes from there. And at the end of the day K/D is not important important is how much fun you had in a game. I can have much fun and still loose a round.

Exactly, All It leads to is hostility.

Personally I am a EXTREMLY competetive person, and even though I generally get high Kdr I don't enjoy being so focused on it, and because of the focus on it, I get generally annoyed when I perform below my average.

as for k/d being the reason some people play, this is not true and never has been.

The only purpose of k/d is bragging rights, and if having the ability to brag is your reasons to play a game, then mabye you should do something more meaningful, like building a school for the poor.

K/D tracking promotes everything this game is not meant to be about. Trying to improve your K/D instead of effectively focusing on the game itself as in objectives/team-based roles and completing side missions is a complete failure at what this game will be about. It is a great thing that they will not have a so called "combat record" of sorts. This will improve teamwork in games and provide a more friendly environment while still focusing on winning, more then anything. Good call SD.

I'm glad it's out. Sure it'd be nice to know how I'm doing and such, but even if they had it so k/d ratio would give you no upgrades or anything like that people would STILL use it as motivation to be asshats.

FOR [censored]S SAKE, NO KDR.

I can keep a decent, above-average/borderline-great KDR so I don't have anything to hide, I'd just rather that in ALL games it was out of sight and out of mind. I find myself sometimes letting my KDR govern my playing rather than my objective, and its because KDR divides the community; it lets the elitist element in and sets "standards" to separate the cool kids from the "scrubs".
