Pre-Order Confusion

Post » Sat Sep 04, 2010 5:19 am

I went to pre-order the game today at walmart.com - got all the way to the shipping selection point where they ask me what I want and didn't know what to choose. None of them puts the game to me prior to 5.16, and the release date is 5.10, yet they have a "pre-order promise" on the game's description page.
Does anyone know why they give me shipping options that put receipt a week after the release when they have a "pre-order promise" that states I will get the game on release date?

Thanks,
Rock

Might just be walmarts default shipping time, that is not taking into account the pre-order. Id call customer service to confirm, but i believe you should get your game.

Assuming you chose to receive the game on release (on amazon you had to select this shipping option)

I chose the cheapest shipping, and my order receipt reads:
Arrival Date
Will arrive on Tuesday, 05/10/11

Could be this but the release date was May 17th, so not sure why it would say the 16th then.

Here's a copy of an email from walmart customer service from Gotcha who started the other thread about this:

"Thank you for contacting Walmart.com regarding preordering the Brink w/ Exclusive The Spec Ops Pack w/ Bonus $10 Walmart.com eGift Card (PS3).

As specified on the Walmart.com item page, Brink w/ Exclusive The Spec Ops Pack w/ Bonus $10 Walmart.com eGift Card (PS3) is being sold as a preorder. The release date for this item is May 10, 2011.

This item falls under the Preorder Promise, which offers release date delivery at no extra charge. Restrictions for this service are as follow:
Only pay 97-cent Shipping. "

It's with Best Buy as well. It's just a shipping thing, they can't receive it a couple days before it comes out, ship it to you, and have it be there ON TIME EXACTLY ON THE DAY. It's near impossible when getting it from online.

They can and they do. Wal-mart has been iffy about getting games to me on release day, but Amazon's release day delivery gets you the game on time exactly on the day. Its very possible, and it occurs more often than not.

With Amazon sometimes I have to wait until 6pm on release day for the package but I work full time so couldnt play before that anyways. Theyve gotten me all 4 titles that Ive pre ordered before on release day.

Really? Hm, everytime I ordered something from Best Buy it's always been a little late.

I have no experience in Best Buy; for whatever reason, they say my debit card is invalid (even though every single online store takes it). I don't usually pay for new games at Gamestop either, since you have to pay somewhere around 12 dollars for release day delivery, while pre-orders usually get release day delivery free or for a buck.

After talking to gotcha, I went ahead and ordered it through Wal-Mart. (My son has to have the spec ops package :)) Then my confirmation email still showed a receipt date after release date, so I emailed support. They responded with this:
Thank you for contacting Walmart.com regarding if you will receive the preorder for the Brink w/ Bonus Spec Ops Pack (PS3) on the release date of 05/10/2011.

i do apologize for the inconvenience. As specified on the Walmart.com item page, Brink w/ Bonus Spec Ops Pack (PS3) is being sold as a preorder. The release date for this item is 05/10/2011. We will ship the item to you promptly after it has been released. Your credit card will not be billed until the item is shipped.

If we have not fully answered your question or you have additional questions, please reply to this email.

So, I've sent another email to them regarding the "We will ship the item to you promptly after it has been released" sentence.

My horror story with walmart is still on going, talked to customer support, the rep didn't understand how it had a delivery window with a pre-order promise. Supposedly he put in an email to higher ups regarding the issue, but this is the email I recieved from Walmart.com customer support today.

Thank you for contacting Walmart.com regarding the shipping of your order on the release date.

We apologize for the inconvenience. However, as specified on the Walmart.com item page, Brink w/ Bonus Spec Ops Pack (PS3) is being sold as a preorder. The release date for this item is 13 May. We will ship the item to you promptly after it has been released. Your credit card will not be billed until the item is shipped.

Please note that that the item will not be delivered to you on the release date. The preorder cannot be shipped prior to it's release and is a way to guaratee a copy of the game, not a guranteed delivery on the date of release.

We do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

If we have not fully answered your question or you have additional questions, please reply to this email.

Sincerely,
Walmart.com Customer Care

It would be really nice if someone on the Brink side could let walmart know that they are idiots.
