A Heaven Unto Stars
I’m designing a mod, the basic outline is this:
Upon beginning (preferably on a new save) the player receives a message on their pipboy:

You have received a message; the contents are brief and simple, giving locations to an area north of Vegas, signed only with “Find the Key”
Before continuing, it might be best to consider who could manipulate your pipboy and, more importantly, what their motives may be.

When you travel to the location, it appears as though it is a depilated house, broken and in disrepair. Upon examining it, you discover hidden in the basemant is the entrance to a bunker. The message:

Good, you’ve found what has been hidden yet not what it holds. Do not judge lightly, for this path holds danger, drawing your destiny near. At the end, in a place you know, lies the answer to your quest.

The bunker is small and indescript, holding little loot. However, at the end is a single room, finely furnished, with a picture of Mr. House on the back wall. Its then you receive this message:

So you have found it. Good. By now I assume you know, this is House, Mr. House. I am communicating to you through your pipboy, an interface I designed myself. I know its capabilities and will give you directions from now on.
Do not play coy; I expect prudence on this matter. You are free to choose not to obey, but you must know the 38’ is locked off till the task is complete.
Do not disappoint me.

This is the beginning of the mod.

The quests are:
1) Lord Over Me
2) How Can’t it be
3) Silver and Gold
4) Seven of the Sum
5) No Guardian
6) To Burn the Sky
7) Heaven’s only Gaze

The quests will follow this. With what was above mentioned, you leave the bunker and go to the north of vegas, by the lodge with the supermutants. Hidden in a building is a huge military complex, Everyn Bunker. It is devastated in delapitated.

The player encounters a locked door which has no apparent key. Mr house informs you to return to the lucky 38 (the elevator is inoperable, so as this quest must be done before you can kill house) and enter a vault hidden below. After traveling through a relatively average industrial vault, you come to a door to some caves. In the caves are various storage rooms and a single advanced vault room, holding a figure in a stasis chamber, who is none other than Constantine Chase.

Another chamber is close by, house tells the player to enter, and then you enter Chase’s memories.

You search the now completely clean bunker, find his computer, and activate the terminal to get his keycode.
Returning to the present, you enter the bunker and activate chase’s terminal. Its then House tells you what the bunker is.

It’s a EMP control node, for the US built a EMP system throughout the Rockies in case the Chinese ever landed in the west and marched over them. The system is a small scale missile that is detonated ? mile abouve the ground to create a 30 mile radius EMP shockwave.

Mr house needs you to set off the shockwave in order to reset the west coast satellite relay system.
Knowing the bases defenses need to be deactivated, house makes you detonate them to cripple it (the shielding was damaged when the bombs fell).
The base goes into lockdown and it is necessary to restart the power systems and enter the mainframe uplink center to give control of what remains of the US satellite system to house. You then go to the lucky 38 and continue your game regularly.

No voiceacting is required, all messages will be screen popups and pipboy notes.

Now for the discussion, if you like the mod concept comment, but what I need is help.

I have made a recent mod, http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40515, it expands the lucky 38. I intended for it just to be a house mod, but decided in history 380 class today that im making a quest mod.

But I need alotta help making the quests and scripts.

I will design every level in the mod if it needs be; in fact I’ve already started. I you are wondering over the quality of the levels, view my mod to determine if I’m a good modder. I believe I make good levels.

If you want to collaborate let me know, I will give anyone full administrative access and we could make it, the quest wont be difficult, the hardest thing will be making a script for lighting changes (when the base goes into lockdown, and when the EMP turns them all off) and the quests will be average stuff not requiring alot of attention. But if wan to be apart of something very, very good, likely to be the best quest mod for New Vegas released, please let me know.

So let me know or comment please, I would love to see this mod made, I’ve already put about 40 hours into the layout of the Lucky 38 and can easily make the levels required by the middle of next week. If you can make quests PM me or comment.

Seems a bit odd to have a mod directly effect and deter some vanilla quest content. Might be worth making it a unrelated force... I for one after meeting the owner of RobCo wondered if other companies had done similar things. specifically Vault Tech. I'm sure there's still some vault tech member who still believe in the company's original goal, and haven't joined the enclave, brotherhood, or whatever.

As far as I can tell nothing in your story requires Mr. House to be the one you work for, besides the stuff having to do with the Lucky 38. Just a thought.

Unfortunately ive already spent about 40 hours making http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40515, a lucky 38 expanded mod, and always wanted to make something where Mr. House had a secret lab under the 38 and you used it, ive actually already made about 20% of the area for that mod that can be used for this quest, so i dont think there is any going back unless i can conjure a reason why someone would infiltrate the 38 to accomplish the quest, poor planning i suppose, just 4 hours ago i wasnt even thinking bout doing this. Its all for preference, I like the 38 and mr house so i want this quest to give the player invovlement in the building his empire (what he alludes to doing). anyway, hopefully ill implement this mod in two ways, 1st edition + reward is free admission to strip and access to lucky 38. 2nd edition - access to the strip. I want this mod to be a precursor, like proving to house you can be trusted. I want it to be done before you ever meet him. All that would require is making a copy of the lucky 38 casino where the elevator is static, then reactivating the real one once the quest is finished, shouldnt hurt the generic questline at all.

as for people who dont want to start a new game, well, likely have to make a immersion breaking one for them.

Then again, this forum topic is here for ideals and to see if people will contribute, so whatever the people who decide to help want to do is what ill do.

This is a great idea for a series of quests or even an expansion.

WHO WAS behind the decisions to make some of those vaults be control groups for various experiments,
(IE the one vault with only one person and boxes of Puppets) etc.

I'd love a Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew series of mods/quests that lead you through the paper trail, and shady characters as
you dig deeper and deeper into the dark minds that decided to experiment on the inhabitants of the vaults,
ESPECIALLY....knowing the fact, that who or what, would be around/left to collect and correlate the data from these
experiments?

Was it Aliens? And they built the vaults and purposely destroyed the planet?
Was it Mice who had their supercomputer accidentally blown up at an inconvenient time? (+10 internets who gets the reference)

Who or what would want to run these experiments, especially knowing that there was a possibility that they themselves wouldn't survive
to collect and correlate the data to begin with? (kind of repeated myself there, but hey....sounds like an interesting plot to me....)

Bit risky interfering with the normal game like that. That was one of the big things that annoyed me about the main quest. Having to do a chain of like 3 side quests just to progress...

Off topic:
Spoiler
Yeah when I first met House and he said he was the founder of RobCo I started to wonder about Vault tech.... You create a company that revolves around underground vaults, and then there just happens to be a great nuclear war which makes your products the most valuable things ever.. Not only that but you're obsessed with space colonization, and a silly advertising campaign.

Vault Tech has like the perfect mix between : Big evil corporation, amusemant/sense of humor, and some justifiability of it being all for the greater good. It'd be so boring if they were just a government pawn, that dissolved into other organizations when they were at their peak (ie: just about every living human being was using their product)

I was thinking a good premise for the next Fallout game could be that you're a low ranking Vault Tech employee born into one of the control vaults. You don't really know much more about the company than the average wastelander, but you have been sort of brainwashed to love them and help them since your birth. Recently the monitoring systems in several vaults have gone. Some are already dead/infested/abandoned/destroyed, some have been opened, and some are still closed.
You're tasked with going out into the wasteland, finding these vaults, Setting up new monitoring systems, and giving them first hand information on the vaults and the outside world. Much like other Fallouts your rather simple mission would turn into some big world saving thing when you get mixed up with all the happenings in the wastes, and at one point there's a big uncovering of Vault Tech and all it's secrets.

As for the mod, maybe you could have no interference with the vanilla quests and instead just make just make it a quest for House Supporters, and let people know that if they betray, or kill House the quest will fail, and you won't be able to do it.

I think this ideal is dead. Im willing to make the levels but nobody seems all that interested in it.

Sorry to break this to you guys, but the Enclave are Vault Tech. Enclave was a coalition of corporations and the Government, including Vault Tech, who banded together to exploit the Nuclear war and colonize space. The Vaults were tests for the eventual generation ships as well as tests to see how humanity would drift and react in a controlled environ like that of a generation ship.
