Brotherhood of Steel Recruit

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:26 pm

Sup guys I am currently making a character for Broken Steel. I RP a bit and wanted to know if him (my current char) being a Med-X addict would disqualify him from being a recruit. I would think he would have a hard time getting through basic with the withdrawal...but maybe that is a moot point since he goes through so much anyway, is so highly skilled in combat and helps them on the final assault against the enclave. I doubt they would make you go through basic (Obviously basic training wont be in the game).

Hard to say. FO3's Brotherhood has a different psychology from past Brotherhoods.

Western Brotherhood had little interaction with the outside world, and subscribed to military discipline (so that maybe means no drugs). Can't comment on their recruitment policies, cause they didn't have any. Cheers!

Midwestern Brotherhood allowed their recruits to take chems to aid them in battle and even traded them within their bases. Don't know if the goodly FO3 Brotherhood does the same. I forgot what they sold in their armory. Might want to check that out. If they sell chems there, then taking drugs might not be a problem for them.

My guess is that as long as you're willing to help the innocent, then the Capital Wasteland Brotherhood will be willing to take you in regardless of past sins and addictions. The Lone Wanderer is a prime example of this.

Sup,

The Brotherhood has never spoken out about addictions within the ranks. Personally I don't think they'd mind too much, unless it became a burden. Naturally, a Med-X addiction would probably be quite common if not unheard of amongst military ranks, and it's not essentially a recreational drug, but as a drug is still addictive. There are real-world accounts of military personnel getting addicted to morphine.

I'd say go with it.

Yes, Tactics is only considered semi-canon.

But one scribe in the Citadel acknowledges the existence of the Brotherhood in Chicago, and Emil Pagliarulo acknowledges their recruitment of Super Mutants. So most of the things concerning the Brotherhood there must be canon.

lol no need for an apology i agree. But I was reading up on the mid western brotherhood lore and I really like it since its VERY different from the West and East as they are not bigots and different from the west again in that they recruit locally. They are kind of like the Romans in that they recruit from who they conquer and train auxillary troops.

Nah. Psycho was a military drug, so it was encouraged, I would say. Especially as the war turned sour.

Now would the Brotherhood use it? Of the original group of BOS, they might have turned away from it, given how they reacted to the experiments. They might have viewed psycho as a possible experiment as well and swore off it.

All spectuation of course, aside from the fact drugs were used in the military in Fallout.
