I just wanted to promote some radical diversity in quest rewards (and the world reaction to you after a quest). Rewards that are not necessarily equivalent, but are each specifically helpful to characters in the guild and faction that are getting them.
So in a civil war situation, perhaps siding with one side takes you in as family, you can marry a Duke/Duchess which gets you a Dukeship where you get to do a little estate planning and build up a strong hold (as in Morrowind). Instead of making the other side reward you with the same thing but with different style, make the other faction not even consider making you a noble. Instead they make you captain of the guard and reward you with their unique flying mount and they send you on missions that wouldn't exist on the other side.
And I'm saddened when people respond, "No I want to be able to do it all (and get all rewards) in one playthrough", because when you can do it all in one playthrough then our choices mean so much less. Kill the King and you become a Duke. Defend the King and you become a Duke. It's just two paths to the same place, which is better than one path, but still not nearly as interesting or as fun as paths to different places.
