Graphics settings -> screen brightness

Post » Sun Sep 05, 2010 10:17 am

Is there a setting in the Fallout.ini that controls the screen brightness? I'm going to make a plugin that dynamically controls screen brightness based on night and day time (if it can be controlled via a script, that is). Using URWL, the nights are too dark, and increasing brightness helps with this. But during the day, increasing screen brightness washes out the colors.

I looked through the various INI's and didn't see anything that jumped out at me. I'll take a look at IMAGINATOR and see how the author of that mod does it.

Don't release it (or do with the author's permission) but tweak URWL.esp and make the nights brighter yourself. it would be a simple variable tweak, probably only changing a number or two.

On another note, I agree with you. But when you can see New Vegas' light polution in the distance, in reality, it would be that dark.

I've looked into that. It's more than one or two variables. There's night levels for each weather type.

You can control the "Brightness" with the "fGamma:Display" setting.

That controls brightness, not gamma? Cool, thanks.

fGamma does not correspond to the brightness control located under "Display" settings. My gamma in the INI is 1.0, and when I ramped the brightness up all the way, it remained 1.0.

Ignore my last post. You are right. I was looking at the wrong INI file.
